54 PWJ 04  Japanese Tropical Jungle Defense (scenario)
The set contains 9 model soldiers comprising of 1 officer and 8 infantrymen and a field embankment. The range of weapons included are a Type 97 20mm automatic anti-tank gun with a crew of 2; a Type 89 50mm grenade launcher; a Type 99 sniper rifle with scope; and the Type 44 6.5mm carbine with the swivel bayonet.

The heads and arms are interchangeable with models and parts in the previous box-sets in this series.

The Type 97 20mm anti-tank gun was obsolete by 1943 for anti-tank combat and was re-deployed to garrison units in the Pacific to serve as anti-personnel heavy weapons as they can cut through jungle defenses effectively.
Japanese with mortar

Every Japanese infantry rifle section includes a grenade launcher which has a much longer range than the hand-flung grenade. The most common issue is the Type 89 50mm launcher which the Americans refer to as the “knee-mortar”. The assigned soldier has a differently designed harness to carry the bombs around his waist and thus has to be specifically sculpted.

Japanese sniper

A specialty of jungle combat is the camouflaged sniper. He is one of the deadliest soldiers on the battlefield. We have designed his cape with the same foliage with his helmet

More Japanese

Japanese kneeling figures

Many of the Japanese southern front units are dressed down for the tropics and wear light shirts with shortened sleeves and canvas tabi shoes. We have designed them to be second-line troops drawn from the technical branches of the army or navy. For some variety, we have designed them armed with the Type 44 6.5mm semi-automatic carbines with the unique swivel bayonet (designed for cavalry troopers).

Of course, all the above can be swapped with the parts of the other box-sets in the range to increase their weapon choices.
Defense Line

Multiple sets can also be assembled into an extended field defensive line as below:-
The ends of the embankment can be shaped simply with some modeling clay or plasticine. (The embankment was specifically developed for the anti-tank gun set-up only).

Hope that you and your customers will find something of interest in these models.

Next Offering

The next set in the production queue is the 54mm Pacific War Japanese Special Naval Landing Force in a Banzai Charge! (54 PWJ 05) which is now in toolings. We plan to release this set in April 2021. Due to tooling issues, we have to defer 54 AMR 05 to May or June 2021.With PWJ 05, the Japanese series of sets will be complete for now.

Looking forward to your kind support.

Cheers,
Scott

Note

Recently, there arose a few incidences of error in packing for sets:-

60 HYW 06 W (Men-at-Arms mounted) – no shields;

54 BRT 11 (95th Rifles) – no heads for the privates;

60 GRK 04-S (Greek Sacred Band) – wrong helmets for three hoplite models. (Illyrian helmets supplied instead of Corinthian)

If your inventory or your customers have any missing or wrong items, we will send the correct items to you.

Please accept my apologies and convey the same to your customers.

We seek your kind understanding and forbearance.

    I like the poses ,ideas ,the weapons made not produced so well before in plastic .But I consider the terrain a waist of plastic and if not included in same value price of 9 figures and more costly because piece of terrain it will be a sale stopper .
    My thoughts

    Have just received three sets of the Japanese mortar set they are great. You also get the defensive wall with this set which was a nice surprize. You could also use the defensive wall for ww1.
