Speira Miniatures Figure Review 3D Figures, Erwin Sell gives a review of these figures by 3D printing. I have talked about these figures before, now we have examples of the figures and Erwin also compares them with other figures.

Speira Miniatures Figure Review World War Two

Speira Miniatures Figure Review figure
Speira Miniatures is a small yet very reliable and professional 3D print business/company of wargamers/figures in all scales.
Run by owners Christian & Helen Palsson from Helsingborg Sweden
Cost figures.
The order was for 5 figures and it cost 23.00 Euros =$27.97 USD plus shipping -12.00 EU =35.80 EUN. Total $43.53 USD.
Price per figure could be from 4.60 EU(5.59USD) for 1/32 or 4.80EU (5.84USD)for 1/30 scale in the standard issue. You may pay more if want the pose reversed as shown in the photo or some changes services offered.
Closeup of figures

So counting the shipping total for the 5 figures
, the price total paid per figure was of USD – 8.70. That made figures costly, yet bellow other makers and considering level detail is very close to the best made in plastic till now in detail and accuracy reference I think 3D figures have become the future of this hobby as eventual the price will drop
bazooka

I place an
order on December 6th and receive them on December 14. That made production and shipping service very fast considering these figures are made=printed  once your payment is clear. All in 9 days from Europe.
This company is one of the several I been testing with printed3D production for the last 3 years so far. I will soon post other samples.
different pose
While you can pay 48.00 to 65 .00 USD for 6 figures of Plastic Platoon plus shipping($10.00) at least and get super nice figures at an average of a minimum of 9.60 USD per figure. These 3D do not get much behind compared with  PP and few others out there, yet paid cost relatively less. The maker also combines on larger orders. Shipping from Scandinavian is a bit more costly than many others, but not crazy as the material used is extremely light and they use very economic shipping methods.

Figure Comparison

Speira Miniatures Figure Review Sideview

Material-The figures are very stiff hard plastic -resin type, but not quite fragile as I test drop figures from several tables and higher heights and not part broke at all.
You can request color printed and unfortunately, I did not so I end getting them in nice flesh color that will work for painters but unfortunately hide a bit the detail with the photos or at a simple look. Medium to dark Grey is the highly best-recommended color in my opinion on figures.
German firing Schmeiser

They have a large selection of soldiers
, different periods, and poses. They are increasing their figure offerings each month.
Speira Miniatures Figure Review Running

Scales-While scales may not be quite accurate to1/32 to 1/30.
The 1/32 are more close to what we will call 1/35, 50/54mm and the 1/30 are maxed to 57/59 mm as you will notice in the photo with other brands. If you want the scale in a large style as EXF, TSSD, PP; then you need to choose the 65 or 70  mm scale. See the company measures scale charts please before placing an order.
figure compared
The only pose ordered in 1/30 was the one firing Panzerschreck. The rest of the figures are 1/32.
The best observation in figures I see is  that if you notice well these 3D figures are quite well slender in body mass versus other 3D printed out here that looks either too thick or dwarf funny looking
Still another figure comparison
As you can see these figures will fit in with your other figures.
closeup of a figure

While I notice they cover the ACW period a lot
, they do not cover the westerns, yet they carry several selections of civilian figures such as the French revolution and
Roaring Twenties categories that could be easy adopted for the western period.
The company uses a very simple and easy to walk through the
site.

I got 5 germans in 1-30 scale from them a few weeks ago. They are just a bit smaller than TSSD, Conte but will work . I ordered about 25 more Germans & USA figures in 1-30, still awaiting their arrival. They seem to be increasing their WW2 line so if they continue this s a great source for new figures.

    • ERWIN SELL says:

The 1/30 are exact match with TSSD and Conte ,look in pose with Panzerschreck photo between two TSSD Americans I did to show how exactly are in scale .The pose is actually a bit bended forwards and still stand same exact high as two TSSD .I ordered other 1/30 as well .The only unmatched are the giant bulky EXF Germans made in close to 70 mm scale .

A Great Time to Love Toy Soldiers / Figures ! So many to choose from , Old and New !

  3. Darren Hatley says:

Very impressed with these 3d printed figures, Its getting better and cheaper all the time and i think its definately the future of toy soldier collecting. I will keep this company in mind and if they produce figures in the eras i collect i may buy some from them. If there are any other companies out there producing good detailed figures for a descent price please let us know about them?

Interested in some of these Western figures that I think are 3D printed, but reservations about mail from Ukraine. Currently dealing with no USPS item from Michigan to CT after 10 days, mailed on 12/7 with NO tracking update since 12/13 as of today, 12/17, and from Germany, mailed on 11/25 and no tracking update since 12/1. USPS just can’t seem to get it done anymore. DHL, with the same COVID-19, that USPS relies on as it’s current go to excuse, got me a package from Pakistan in FIVE DAYS!!! and FedEx usually runs a day early. USPS is “investigating” my Michigan package that was due to get to me on Saturday 12/12. Maybe I’ll check out some of the Ukraine figures AFTER the Winter Holidays and AFTER the vaccine is more widespread??? Or, see if they can be sent via DHL.

  5. Tom Black says:

Too bad there is no 3D printing company that would offer a service such as sending them 1/72 or 1/35 scale figures and upping them to TSSD 1/32 size or 1/30. Not the figures you send of course but copies in plastic/resin.

  6. ERWIN SELL says:

That will involve Scanning process, because 1/72 are less detailed ,it need a program to re work the detail and the then up scale is done by another program .
    So involve two programs .
The 3 Printed 1/72 figures from other makers could be scan cloned in 3D as is been done by some out here private wargamers but that is copywrite too ,so you may do x yourself but not to sale as my bring legal issues to sale/produce. Most HO makers such HAT,ITALEI,ACTA,PEGASUS …are still producing the HO sets and not 1/32 but it mean they are active still owner of the mold rights. If they notice 3D plagiarism they will go after .

Because the 3D printing work using a file -STL (an abbreviation of “stereolithography”) is a file format from stereolithography CAD software created by 3D Systems. .These files need be purchase to the designer and costly .So the makers buy the files(per figure) and start producing the figures. The designer of this files is like the designer of figure-mold and need make sure he is not doing copywrite.

I already inquire about up scale 1/72 using a no longer produced figures /defunct brand and try do it x myself only with one of my test with two 3 print makers but was not good result and ended time consuming plus costly ,much more than these .
The best up come will be try to create STL with the same poses of 1/72 in larger scale of any set/brand and send direct to do 3D in larger .But again who ever make the STF file need make sure is not coping .

I also recently brought 6 Fantasy figures from this Speira company and i was very impressed with them. Really beautiful well detailed figures, And the resin stuff they are made of is very sturdy and will not break easily, And at around £4 each are well worth the price, The people who make the figures are very professional friendly and helpful, The only thing i was unhappy with was the price of postage which came to £20 to England. They are putting new figures on there website all the time and as a big fan of fantasy figures they have a really nice and ever increasing selection of figures of all kinds. Overall i would say anyone who is thinking of buying from them, Its well worth it.

  8. Darren Hatley says:

I wonder if someone can help or offer some advice. As i said before i recently brought 6 Fantasy figures from this company and they look great and overall i’m very happy with them. However when the figures arrived they were separate from there stands and will not stand on there own without being on a stand, But when i tried to glue them onto the stands i cannot find a glue that works including strong lock tight super glue. I think the figures are made of some kind of resin. I was thinking of buying more figures from this company soon but i wont if i cant glue them. Also as far as converting and trying to glue back something that has broke of is probably almost impossible as far as i can see at the moment. So if anyone can help i will be grateful.

    • Chris Salomon says:

Darren – I’ve used Loctite with decent results, but a recommended glue I’ve recently been using with very good results is Zap-a-Gap. It’s in the Super Glue family-like glues. Works great. Amazon or other outlets. Do a search, see what you think. The few Speira figures that I needed to reattach a bayonet or even secure their base to stand on have gone well.

  9. Darren Hatley says:

Hi Chris thanks alot for the info mate, I will try that glue zap-a-gap and see what happens, But if you say it works great on Speira figures i’m sure it will be fine. Ive done many hundreds of conversions with plastic figures and have always used 2 glues, Quick Grip gel like glue and loctite superglue and they have always worked just fine but these Speira figures must be made of something different because as i mentioned they did not work very well on these figures at all. So anyway thanks again for the info and i will give your recommend glue a try.
