Jeff Imel of BMC has posted an update of future releases and wish list. One of the items on his wish list is a new Civil War Accessory Set. One major change will be what Confederate flag he is using. You can check out his plans here

Speira Miniatures

Back in March of this year, we spotlighted a company called Speira Miniatures. This is a company from the UK which does figures in plastic resin. The figures are done by using 3D printing. They can make most of their figures as small as 6mm to as large as 60mm(1/32 scale). The figures are not cheap. A 54mm version of a Victorian lady will cost you 4.10 pounds ($5.10). These are figures that you can be used to round out your army or scene.

Mystery Indian Figures

Indian Squaw
Clayton Bonelli had a friend acquire these the following figures. Neith Clayton or his friend know who made them. The first figure is an Indian woman.
Indian medicine man
The second figure could be a medicine man. He is missing a weapon.
Indian chief
The third Indian figure is Indian holding peace pipe
Indian kneeling
The fourth Indian is most interesting in the group. The Indian is kneeling holding a doll. Sadly, the rifle is damaged.
back of the figure
Here is the back of the figure. Notice the detail of the figure.
Indian scout
The last figure is of an Indian cavalry scout. Once again I love the detail of the figure especially the footwear. Do you know who made them?

Just my opinion, not wanting to stir up trouble. The confederate flag is what it is and should not be changed for any reason. If it offends you then possibly this is not the hobby for you. Everything in George Orwell’s 1984 is coming to fruition. Wake up..

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

      With all respect Eddie .
I understand your point but as far i see in link ,the flag used is actually base in original Confederate main flag used as well .
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flags_of_the_Confederate_States_of_America
What happen is the other more common known with cross is more used. The so call -“battle flag ”
The flag used in this new production had been used before by other toy makers in the hobby .
Others banner as original Stainless Banner on large white background had not been done and was extensively used as well.
“Awesome kids” brand first playset come with banner depicted new by BMC .
,later playset change to others …
Still i agree and understand your opinion and is correct .
      my thoughts.
      best

The problem will not be the people in the hobby on the Confederate flag. The problem will be the average person that will complain. That is what happened to the Forces of Valor with their historical sets in Target.

  2. ERWIN F SELL says:

What material and scale are the unknown figures?? .I believe i have the scout in my mix brand collection .but i could be wrong ..

  3. Mike Handley says:

I think the change to the First National Confederate Flag is a GREAT idea. So many folks think the common Battle flag is “the” Confederate flag, that maybe including this version in the playsets will encourage some young people to actually look up the history of the Confederate National and Battle flag designs.

  4. Alan James Black says:

    Thanks Erwin.
Look I have to agree as far to many very brave men died under the Confederate battle flag. Just let it remain. It’s a rather beautiful flag.
This is political correctiveness gone so wrong.
I believe we here all love and collect toy soldiers for what they mean to us from our childhoods.
No disrespect but sometimes things just go to far.
Personally I love this hobby. It keeps me going.
    But these are my opinions.
I just want to recover some of the magic I used to get every Christmas days when I found the forts and figures ‘Santa’ had gifted.
    Thanks for listening.
    Alan

  5. Brian Johnson says:

No No No they are not “Indians”,they are Native American First Nations Aborigine Trans gendered two spirited peoplekind individuals,LOL.Using the first Confederate Govt flag instead of the Battle Flag is probably the best way to avoid any hassle from the SJWs as most of them wouldn’t know the other Confederate flags if they walked into them, could always use the Bonny Blue Flag that would really get them tied in a knot!!

  6. The flag change could be in part due to Ebay’s banning the use of images with the Confederate stars & bars battle flag. I got a Marx ACW tin Confederate battle flag auction yanked a while back. Not sure what Amazon’s position is but as a manufacturer you don’t want to make a product you can’t sell at the large platform websites. The figure seem similar to Safari figures.

  7. Jeff Imel says:

Yep, it’s completely a business decision, I can’t afford to produce a product that will wind up banned on major sales channels. Both Amazon and Google Shopping have policies banning ‘Confederate Flag’ merchandise. Just using the word ‘Confederate’ in an item description is enough to get product banned from Google Shopping. On Amazon, it usually just takes a complaint, even if it’s just a sticker flag in a set of plastic soldiers. In this case, I can at least substitute a historically accurate flag. For the D-Day sets I had to create a fictitious flag design for Germany, otherwise the whole set would be banned in may places.

  8. ERWIN F SELL says:

Because scale and apparent detail/material the figures unknown looks alike KRESA MODELLBAU figures .Color base cream is same use by such manufacturer .Figures had been painted by collector.
    Best

  9. Jon Burk says:

I like the kneeling Indian with the flintlock; looks like you could easily make it look like a cut down musket as was done with some trade muskets for easier handling. Holding the doll is…very strange.

I like the First National Flag, and wouldn’t mind seeing a Bonnie Blue Flag either. The Stainless Banner looks great, but has the “not pc”corner.

It’s a shame what has happened to a number of statues, (they could have been moved to other places to view as historical sculptures rather than be destroyed.) There is such ignorance of American History and even denigration of military in general that is really sad. The larger part of this hobby is military figures.

Marx wouldn’t even be able to set many of their classic playsets in a lot of current stores. So sad.

One of my favorite 70’s cars, the General Lee, is likely reproduced with a plain roof. It has to be of the 3 top ’70 tv and film cars, along with Starsky and Hutch’s and Bandit’s cars. Kitt was in the 80’s, I believe.

    • Jon Burk says:

My favorite flag of the Civil war was the dark blue Regimental Flag that many northern states used. It is so seldom seen even at reenactments, but has the beautiful eagle with banner showing the Regiment and State, plus many were emblazoned with the names of battles where the regiments had campaigned.
