Readers’ Questions Contributions Update Questions

Readers' Questions Contributions Update trees
George Albany said this about these figures. While rummaging through my accumulated soldiers and related items last weekend and while looking for something else, I came across these trees.   Do You know who made them? They are resin and maybe Barzso? do You know?
Readers' Questions Contributions Update Indian
Clayton Bonelli had a question on the above Indian figure for a friend. The friend bought the figure in France, but neither he nor the dealer knows who made the figure. Do you have any idea w who made this figure? Clayton said the figure is a plastic figure.

Civil War Cannon
Rich Fisher asked this question on these cannons and limbers which he got from an Ebay seller. One set is in brown and the other set is a medium green.

Before we could post this question, Rich got an answer. The cannons and limbers are being sold with figures at Hobby Lobby. The bag of figures and cannons go for $9.99. while the figures are similar to BMC, the Confederates have brim hats and the mounted poses are different.

In my Delaware Finds, I showed the above two figures. At the time I showed these two finds I did not know the name. James Connell came up with the name Trash Can Warrior which lead me to the correct name Trash Bag Bunch. The series was doner by Galoob in 1991. The series had 36 figures which were divided into two groups Disposers the good guys and the Trashors the bad guys. The link I gave will show you more of this interesting series.
He Man
Erwin Sell found some items in Marshalls. The box on the top is are He-Man Figures. they are 45mm and by Mega Construx. MegaCon is doing a series of licensed items to compete with Lego. Below is a set of dinosaurs.

Erwin also found these dinosaurs and animals

  1. Brian McIver says:

    Trees are definitely Barzso

  2. Carl Castoro says:

Hi Guys. Concerning the BMC lookalikes at Hobby Lobby, do you think they are similar to the Rite-Aide Drugstore figures you featured recently? Gotta check that store and see if these figures with slouch hats are decent. Also, I’d like to acquire the lying prone pose of the drug store figures. BMC doesn’t make a prone figure do they?

    • Greg Liska says:

The BMC lookalikes are almost as if you took the BMC guys and just swapped out a head with a slouch hat. Same poses, even. No prone guys. They are fully 54mm in scale like BMC was in its first run before clones of the molds were made. Now, tell me about these Rite-Aide figures. This could be my mystery ACW guys I have a sample of. Are they still available?

      • ERWIN F SELL says:

I had not seen then x long.
So as typical chinese production import .They may pop as overstocked in other stores or online.
        Who knows.
        Best

  3. roger Ross says:

The pine trees were made by Ron Barzso. They were included in his first playset.
    “Roger’s Rangers”.

    • Len Hardt says:

There were two trees in each bag. The bags were labelled, (tongue-in-cheek) “Pine Forest.” Extra sets contained four trees. Ron stopped carrying them because he could not keep them in stock.

  4. James says:

Now we both know. At least I remembered part of the name. keep up the good work.

  5. George Albany says:

Thanks for the help on identifying the trees

  6. Markus says:

The indian could be ISAS of Italy.
At least the base kooks quite charateristic

They used kind of “rubber, latex and plaster dust, Plaster of Florence” to quote from the book “Soldatini Italiani/Italian Toy soldiers”. But no pics of any Indians made by this company. Is the figure about 70mm +?

  7. denitz says:

In my opinion indian made by french brand Clairet.

Very specific stand and paint type.

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

I agree it most likely looks very alike Clairet .
Still. Will be great if any French collectors could confirm it.

  8. Clayton says:

Thanks for helping with identifying indian woman

  9. TD Barnecut says:

The cannons and limber look pretty good though the detailing does not show very well in the darker colors. The wheels should have 14 spokes not 12, but otherwise nice models. I might have to go get some.

  10. james nixon says:

I got a collection of figures from EBAY mostly CTS frontiersman and Marx frontiersmen also with them was a Dulcop frontiersman look likes Davy Crockett. I have never seen him before does anyone know if they did other frontiersmen. I have looked on the toysoldierhq site but did not find him on there if anyone can help that would be great.

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

That is one of the few characters figures made by Dulcop as part of historical series.
In the western 6 foot poses set there one frontiersman pose included w a knife.
Those are only made by Dulcop.

  11. james nixon says:

Thank you Erwin for the information on the Dulcop Davy Crockett figure. First time I have come across him. I have got all their western figures but didn’t have him.
