As we mentioned Barry has been doing conversions for twenty years. Here is a Confederate stretcher party.
Barry Warren's Figure Conversions
Here is another Confederate stretcher party that was done by Barry. I like the figure with his hand to his head.
Confederate with wounded
Here is a Confederate carrying a wounded man. This would have been a great pose that Marx could have done.
More wounded men
Here is two more wounded Confederate both using their rifles as crutches.
two Confederates helping another
Two Confederates helping one of their fellow soldiers. We can’t wait to see what Barry has next.

Atlantic naval boat

Atlantic Naval ship
We have a photo from Kent Sprecher’s web site that shows the Atlantic naval boat in its proper configuration.
Atlantic Figure box
Also, Markus sent us a photo of the Atlantic box showing that the arms are down. I how this settles confusion from Detlef’s photo of it.

Barry Warren’s Figure Conversions News

Rahway has an update on Hat Austrians. Here is what he said. It looks as if Hat Toy Soldiers, a division of the Pacific Coast Company, is reviving the Napoleonic Austrian sets. There are no details about set composition but it appears that they will not be seeking crowd-funding for these sets. Their intention is to release them right after the Seven Years War Austrians, which do not have a release date yet.

Playset Magazine in issue 105 has identified the sculptor of the Remco figures. He is Gene Salamacha. Gene designed their figures for the Big Caesar and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. It great to find out who did these figures.

Odds and Ends

Ugly soldier
I found these in a junk box. these figures have to be the worse figures ever done. Can’twait to hear who made these figures.
Auburn cowboys
I managed last week to get to a flea market a little earlier than usual as Laurie had off and I decided to check it out. I found a few auburn cowboys in plastic which is three of them. I wonder how many prefer the rubber figures over the Plastic figures. what was fun in this lot there was an Indian horse but no Indians.
Zorro Candy box
sometimes it is the odd item that sells on Ebay case in point this Zorro Candy Box. I believe Peter Evans got me this item. The candy box held three kinder like Eggs. In each egg was a capsule with a figure related to Zorro. U decided to sell the box only it sold quickly.

The Warren conversions are extremely well done. Kudos to Barry Warren! These figures ought to be reproduced in soft plastic and offered as a set – hundreds of collectors would want them!

    • Barry Warren says:

Thank you TD, appreciate that. I would love to reproduce them and have thought about it. I probably have over 500 including over 10 cannon crews. If you know of a way I’d love to hear it. Hoping to get a website up to show them but I am not a computer guy. I’m still stuck in the 60’s and don’t even own a cell phone which for me is a good thing. I’ll be sending more pictures in, and thanks to Stad for showing them.

I’m scratch building some Civil War mortars in 1/32 and want to convert Marx ACW figures to crew them. The poses would not be the same as cannon crews but there would be similarities. I hope pictures of the Warren artillery crews will be posted sometime.

  2. Wayne W says:

Indeed Kudos to Barry Warren’s excellent conversions. I also think it would be great if he could somehow reproduce them and market them. Considering the massive slaughter of the Civil War casualty figures are a sad necessity if one is too accurately recreate it even on a small scale. In my own mind they are a way of paying tribute to the blood and sacrifice of those who fought on both sides. JMO.

  3. Dan Harrick says:

Hi Barry, very nice conversions. There are a few Groups on Facebook that would enjoy seeing your figures: Unpainted Plastic Figure Collectors’ Community, Plastic Toy Collectors International and Military Toys from Our Childhood are a few I belong to with great members that enjoy seeing and passing info and tips on figures. And you wouldn’t have to set up a website…. just join and start posting photos and comments. Hope to see you on them!

  4. Greg Liska says:

I love the conversions. Great diorama material.

I’d like to find out who made those terrible figures. I’ve seen them before. Junk of all junk. If I would have come across them as a kid they would have been met with fire crackers and magnifying glasses, for certain.
