Friends Toy Soldier Finds Figures Galore

Friends Toy Soldier Finds, one thing I like to know is what my friends got at a show. I am not upset they got something I might want as they were there before me if I was at the show. It might give me something to look for.

Markus, Detlef’s Bergner’s Finds Figures Markus Lecksheid

 Friends Toy Soldier Finds
Markus got some interesting figures for his collection. First, he got these European style figures inspired by Britains Herald American Civil War. No maker listed.
Friends Toy Soldier Finds cops and robbers
Second interesting item Markus got was the cops and robbers. Other than made in China, Markus has no idea who made them. The figure on the far left is for comparison. I sent the above photo to Erwin as he is my person for figures from the Far East. He thinks they may be conversions we will have to see.
Friends Toy Soldier Finds Replicants
the next two photos show how the Replicants Texas Rangers figures are packaged. the mounted are bagged two figure to a bag. The header card has a drawing of the poses.
Friends Toy Soldier Finds Replicantss
The foot figures are sold together. The guitar player is sold by himself. I have not gotten any prices yet.

Friends Toy Soldier Finds Detlef’s Finds

Friends Toy Soldier Finds Esci Box
Detlef sent me photos of items he got for his collection including this box of ESCI WWII German Infantry
Friends Toy Soldier Finds Atlantic Boat
This item is from Atlantic naval figures. I remember how Atlantic was so easy to find.
Friends Toy Soldier Finds Reliable
When I saw this photo it brought back memories my late aunt and uncle got this figure on their honeymoon. It is by Reliable of Canada. I will be sending him the Indian from this series.
Friends Toy Soldier Finds Timpo
Timpo Bren Gun Carrier with a Black beret soldier.
Coma viking
Coma Vikings, two of the figures are missing separate weapons
Cherilea Cleopatra
This is an original Cherilea Cleopatra. It is a nice piece of a famous woman from history.
Jescan Civil War
Jescan American Civil War Union. these look like the reissues collector painted. Nothing wrong with this as the reissues have dried up as well.

We will show more in part two of Detlef’s finds. then we will show Peter Bergner’s finds.

The unknown first blue soldiers are very strong variation made in Argentina base in mix poses of LIDO and Herald ACW poses sets with total different hats and uniforms to represent the Federal armies of Argentina post independence war and of the Paraguayan War period .Also they use the Lido ACW leased mold of BASA sets to represent Paraguay armies.Attributed to “PLOMBEL ” .Still according to argentina collectors it seems several version copies were made in Argentina and Uruguay same time .Least one of the mold of these still exist .They are 5 poses and the one with pole has a paper banner that often is missing while in other mold variation it is a pike-spear type weapon.I have full set .Photo send to admin .
Epopeya from Argrentina is the one did a crude clone copy of Heral ACW poses and modern british soldiers as well .

One of robbers and police officer looks alike in style but not same figures as those in playset you got in your collection admin …

    ACW made in spain
No Jecsan ,they are Reamsa .Set consist of 5 foot poses and 3 mounted sold painted as Confederate and Union or grey and blue if umpainted .
Interesting. Reamsa like to mix the 7cavlary 2nd generation set poses with ACW set poses to increase poses x the ACW thematic playset sets sold in boxes .
Confederate and Union alike were sold with painted blankets in red ,brown and yellow Full set poses was reissued in 90s
The vikings are not COMA but rater copies of COMA .Original COMA had not such bases are more detail and taller with most poses plug in weapons as the romans and gladiator sets .First were made in colored red, yellow, blue ,green ,orange colors while later in solid less bright colors

It is interesting how the ESCI WW2 german and American paratroopers are listed in box as 1/35 when they are true 1/32 =55-56 mm scale while rest ESCI set were made in 50/53 mm =1/35 scale .such WW2russian and modern post WW2 set made .
For me the ESCI germans were the first early plastic better made WW2 germans in uniforms detail, weapons versus previews brand sets by Airfix, britain, matchbox Atlantic,MPC ,Marx ,Lido else .All wich fail in accurate weapons and uniforms in many cases .
Followed in best/better detail also are the Dulcop who were first showing a well done MP44,MP40 and MG42 with well done drum/mags in then .
Was not till Conte arrive with well done historical accurate figures and CTS,TSSD right after .
    my thought

I agree with Erwin about the Esci Germans being the first set to accurately depict German WW2 infantry, EXCEPT if you count the Matchbox German Afrika Korps which came out in the late 70s. I don’t think anything at all was wrong with their weapons and equipment. They had realistic MP40s, Mauser rifles and an MG34. Airfix did OK with the Mausers, but the other weapons were unrecognizable. The Matchbox Afrika Korps are one of the all-time great toy soldier sets in my opinion. Britains Deetail Afrika Korps were not bad, either. The regular European front Germans from both companies were not nearly as good as far as weapon and uniform accuracy.

      • ERWIN F SELL says:

        Yes, you are correct Mark.
The AK Matchbox come with better than their European set but the Mauser were too short in my opinion and the MG 34 pose in 2D always look odd in same way they did all other armies same pose plus not accurate made in the MG .Britain deetail MG42 AK pose has not drum mag and MP40 too small, yet the rest looks fine .
The Airfix poses AK with LSMG have what looks as a MP41 not distributed to AK that may be same depicted in Britain Deetail German reg infantry poses .The Airfix paratroopers Germans and mountain troops sets have correct weapons but poor detail in most and too small versus soldiers body .The flamethrower in Lido ,Matchbox and Britain poses is wrong made .Atlantic both set are fairly well accurate but again size and length weapons are odd versus figure in many cases .Yet the action poses hand to hand of Atlantic AK are awesome in my opinion .
In general, they look fine or fairly enough accurate in my opinion. I just happen to be surprise the level of deep detail ESCI figures have in their weapons as well uniforms and gear when first saw them versus rest made.

I don’t believe the Atlantic boat is assembled correctly.

  3. Markus says:

Many thanks to Erwin for identification of Herald modifications.
Wonder how they made it over to Europe.
To the cops and robbers I added up the made in china robber only for size comparison.
When I have more time I’ll send close ups of the other six.

It is impossible to figure out how figures end up in odd places. I have gotten a figure from New Zealand in the UK. At American Toy Show, I got a small company from Berlin. Germany. It is just great that it showed up and you were able to add to the collection.

The second from the left in the cops and robbers photo looks kind of like Mr Rogers in handcuffs ! Welcome to my cell block !
