Cool, simple done but fare enough for more action in the field. Wonder how well they may blend with TSSD .
And of course price is good .

  2. Don Perkins says:

A good improvement in color over the dark gray of the earlier Viet Cong set, in my opinion.

  3. Erwin says:

Yes least not yellow or red.
The box art is ugly.It looks like using a 8 year old kid painter.
Any how I’m ok with it.
    My thoughts…

  4. Jay says:

I think the box art and color is almost typical of what you would find in Vietnam, and throughout Asia in the 60s and 70s. Possibly even today. Not bad at all.

  5. erwin says:

I disagree with respect please. In my opinion and base in NV era plus later and today is not even close unless made by a children. Whoever this it had not idea of what art Vietnam used then and now.
During war the Chinese Mao-Stalin typical cultural style was used in painting, posters and school books and way more dramatic plus realistic . After war till now the nature and vegetation art in painting is far more realist than that with a antiwar peace movement starting in 80s
    Is a huge difference.

    best…

  6. Tom Black says:

Pretty good. Some varied weapons that TSSD NVA don’t have. The RPD and a modified PPSh-41?

  7. erwin says:

The detail in these figures is simple as AIP are in most cases, weapons are close but not much accurate. However TSSD mess in the Russian weapons too.
As far I see there is RPG7 standard either B40 or 50 VC-Chinese designed ,AK47 not the 74.
The PPSh looking is a PPD34/40!?-RAREused in Vietan war but looks like it .
Also included there RPD or later RPK support LMG and type 63 plus SKS Automatic and semi rifles as far I can get from pic.
I can not see what officer has in hand.
They are very close to me in accuracy and I like them.
    best…

  8. Brian Johnson says:

I hate looking through binocular poses almost as much as loading musket with ramrod pose.If they could do a binocular pose the way Britains did some of their lead soldier poses with the arms swinging up to face and down to chest I could live with that,LOL..other wise like the Mars sets now for some ARVINS and ROK Marines!

    • ed borris says:

I agree with you 100%. However lately, I’ve been doing custom conversions for a few guys and they don’t want the fighting poses. They want loading poses, shock and awe poses , guys just standing around looking up at the walls , guys handing off loaded weapons to others guys and guys surrendering. KInd of odd, but actually in some cases more challenging than the fighting poses.

  9. Mike Kutnick says:

Viet Nam Green Berets are supposed to come next from MARS.

    • Erwin says:

So may need ed to do John Wayne x me as that is one if my favorite films .

      • ed borris says:

I read the book, they took about 4 or 5 different stories from the book and incorporated them into the movie.

The only guy I have with a beret right now is an AIP light Infantry or Rogers Rangers, whatever it was they made.

        • Wayne W says:

Yeah, Robin Moore, the author of the book got in deep kimshi when he wrote that book as even though he was careful not to divulge identities of the guys he wrote about the very fact he was writing about CIA-backed ops in places like Laos and Cambodia where we weren’t supposed to be ticked off a lot of people in DC. John Wayne had to do a lot of glad-handing to get the co-operation of the DoD in making his film at Ft Benning and other places. They also had script approval to make sure nothing else was let out of the bag.

I guess it didn’t make much difference anyhow, the book was out and the war effort needed some sort of shot in the arm. I met a guy who owns (maybe owned – it’s been awhile since I stopped by to talk to him) an Army Surplus store outside of Ft Campbell in Clarksville. I pass by Campbell on my way up to visit family in St. Louis as it’s a good place to get off the road, refuel and take a break. I was never stationed at Campbell as the 101st was off jump status by the time I was able to enlist myself, but it’s kind of nice to knock around there and there are some places I like to visit. This fellow’s place is one of them. A REAL Army Surplus Store – not a sporting goods store selling cammied up goods or the occasional military item.

It turns out he was an old green beret who had enlisted and come up through the ranks to retire as a captain. He was at Ft Benning when the movie was being made and ended up in the movie in a bit role as John Wayne’s driver in the beginning of the film. You can see him for a few seconds; he told me his role was somewhat bigger originally – he actually had a line or two but they ended up on the cutting room floor. He laughed and said that ended his dreams of a second career and Hollywood stardom. He gave me a copy of a newspaper article about him with a picture of him with John Wayne; I think I still have it somewhere.

Every time “The Green Berets” is on, I watch for his scene. It’s become a running joke in the family and expected for me to say, “I know him…”

The last time I came thru there was last February after my uncle’s funeral and I was outrunning a snow storm so I didn’t take the time to stop. I keep telling myself I need to stop back by and look in on him, it’s been awhile and he wasn’t a spring chicken the last time I stopped.

  10. Mark McNamara says:

    Nice sculpting !

  11. ed borris says:

I always hated those poses where they place one foot on a rock , a log or a box. Especially, when they do it with shooters. I understand why they do it, so the figure will stand, but I still hate it.
