The Next Two Sets From Chintoys Napoleon and Wellington Staff

The Next Two Sets From Chintoys Napoleon and Wellington Staff we just got word from Billy Hirn on this information.  Each set contains 8 different figures.  This time  the card is telling who the different figures are.  On the Wellington set you are getting Admiral Horatio Nelson.  Acouple of the figures you could use in other periods. for example Major General Picton I thinking of using in a western setting.  No date on when these figures will be out.

Well as seller in US told me and I post here before, they should be here by end December early January not October or November .So Scott ,the seller who I got then and many here as well told me was correct.
I just email him early. Hope he can confirm it
    Best regards…

These Chintoys are great! I got the first two sets, and can hardly wait to get these two new ones.

Did anyone ever figure out the story behind who is making them? Someone in the Ukraine? Some collector in England?

As far as I’m concerned, after they finish the Napoleonic General Staffs, they can start on the American Civil War generals, followed by the American Revolution generals, followed by those of WWII.

This is in the great tradition of Stengel’s Action Castings, who is in the process of releasing his “Personalities of Gettysburg”, which already includes Pickett, Hancock, and Armistead, and is slated to add others, including each of the other Brigade Commanders who participated in Pickett’s Charge.

    • Erwin says:

So far is a person from UK who commission EB maker that are made in Ukraine.
The person is very misterius as the odd name choose for the brand he commision .
Base in list of sets so far announced; will go x more Napoleonic.
Si I guess we will have to wait for some times if change eras.

      • Don Perkins says:

Thank you for the information, Erwin.

An English originator would make sense, since the English could be expected typically to have a strong interest in the Napoleonic era (as Chintoys seems to have).

And going to Engineer Bassevitch for design makes sense, since E.B. seems so top of the line.

It seems like Chintoys would put some sort of address or contact info on their headers, like companies usually do.

But anyway, for the combination of price, sculpting, and historical accuracy, Chintoys these days can hardly be beat, especially if you get them from Scott’s Model Shop in California on ebay. I was really quite impressed when I got my first two sets.

        • Erwin says:

I just got words from Scott on email today.
He says he may expect the two new sets around end of December or January as he had though and told me before.
Base in his direct experience with first sets and several order batch he had sold.He mention me they ussualy annunce ahead time the sets still under produc tion.
So hope goes as he think.
          Best….

          • Don Perkins says:

If he would advertise them, I’d place my order right now.

But he undoubtedly knows from experience, as we all do, that projected availability dates sometimes come and go for weeks and sometimes months before the product actually arrives.

Probably best for him to wait until he actually has them in his store.

  3. Christian Aldo says:

    NICE SETS!

  4. erwin says:

Some of the British staff could be use for the 1812 -1815 US-Britain war and also possible for Crimea war as well.
I agree and well though in use Picton for any or many other scenes, era or charters as well.

  5. Wayne W says:

Some nice figures – ‘seems to be the standard for this company. The Nelson figure seems a bit out of place, but I won’t quibble on that – he’s usable and well-done and deserves note in the Napoleon realm IMHO.

  6. Wayne W says:

I should add that I’m looking forward to these sets. Again, will probably get two of each – one for the intended use and the other for other armies. Santa Anna will definitely have a nice staff and command section.

  7. ed borris says:

I may just have to buy Wellington’s staff to make an Alamo defender out of Picton.

  8. ed borris says:

I may just have to buy Wellington’s staff to make an Alamo defender out of Picton. There are some interesting uniforms in both groups. Beresford could easily pass as a Mexican Officer too.

  9. Wayne W says:

My thoughts. As I also do Nappies I’ll probably have to get at least two sets of each…

  10. Wayne W says:

    Geez I think I am repeating myself…

  11. Brian Johnson says:

OK I’ll be the first to ask, in Napoleon’s set who the H**L is “Joker”?Is that a mis- translation of “Junot”?

  12. Wayne W says:

The helmet throws me off; Junot is oft depicted wearing a hussar-style uniform but with shako. The guy appears to be wearing a lancer-style helmet with a more or less hussar style uniform. Even Murat didn’t go that far (at least not in any presentations I could find of him). Dug out some of my books and came up with zilch.

So, he may be just what the producer says he is. Now, I’m trying to see if the figure bears more than a passing resemblance to Jack Nicholson or Heath Ledger – or even Cesar Romero…

    • Erwin says:

Wayne par me please with respect. Not meanning correction .just adding information.
Junot is correct. He is wearing not schako but early hussar not furry hat 1798-1806.He did were it in Austerlitz .
The “joker” is correct depicted wearing a chasseur de sheval late 1790 uniform with leopard decor . Sorry the bad french.
And the helmet is actually a hat , very alike those used by jokey on horse sportman or fox hunters just w crest and helmet. The hat in particular was used by american dragons during the war of 1812.
      Best regards.

  13. Carl Castoro says:

Does anyone think that this company will eventually make ACW figures? They are done really well.

    • admin says:

We have no idea what this company will do after the inital sets they have announced. We do not know who the owner is. We know that Engineering Bassevitch is doing the work We just have sit and wait.

  14. rahway says:

The next two Chintoys sets are now on Ebay. They seem to be cheaper from the US than from Russia.

    CHT003, NAPOLEON’S GENERAL STAFF Part 2

    CHT004, WELLINGTON’S GENERAL STAFF

  15. ed borris says:

I still want one of the guys in the top hat to make into an Alamo defender. For those of you that want an officer’s staff for your Alamo, looks like 3 or 4 could be possible for that purpose.

    • Wayne W says:

Ed, bought two sets of the first set of Napoleon’s Staff for that very reason. Don’t know if it’s worth it for these last offerings so I only ordered one of each – I figure I can order a second box once I get them in my paws up close; it looks like they’ll be available AT LEAST long enough for that…

      • ed borris says:

I think they will work for most people except those, 100% accurate guys, those guys that count buttons and rifle bands.

        • Erwin says:

Ed if figures were to be also paint I think could be use x much more too as paint cover what cuts di not.
Any how base in my experince of u work. You can cut and make a lot off any…so I bet could well be done.
          My thoughs

          • ed borris says:

Yeah if I can carve off a bed roll, I can carve just about anything off. Got to be patient to carve off a bed roll I can tell you.

      • Erwin says:

Wayne .What u think of first sets if not much to ask please?

        • Wayne W says:

Erwin, I just noticed your post – sorry I didn’t respond sooner. My overall impressions are positive – but I’ve had them put up since I received them, with the holidays and all the kids and grandkids staying here – there are toy soldiers grandpa lets them play with and those he selfishly hoards for himself (for now, can’t see letting a five year old play with a fifty year-old Marx rebel, or an expensive new guy). But I am about to resume some painting and need to drag them out – when I do I’ll give a more precise critique.

I do want to compare them with my reference books because even though I’m not a big button counter I still want to get it right when I paint them.

There are those who somehow manage to get every nuance even down to the “Ns” on a fusilier’s turnbacks and I am awed how they manage (I usually use a lighted magnifier and get crosseyed) – but they usually do one or two figures at a time. I usually paint between one or two hundred 1/72 scale figures or 30 – 5o 1/32 scale figures at a shot.

But I draw the line at the point one fellow collector whose work I respect greatly has drawn. In 1/72 scale he calls it the three foot rule: if you can’t see it in real life with the naked eye don’t bother. I try to extrapolate that in my 1/32 painting as well.

As far as raw figures are concerned if (as others have stated), the guys have the right “feel” I can make them work. A slanted cuff where they should have been straight? A dab of paint can fix that depending on how deep the detail is. I’ve even painted over leggings with an extra coat to make them look like overalls or long trousers (easier at 1/72 than 1/32) – three foot rule.

The wrong shako can be problematic – maybe the average viewer won’t know but I will.

Well, probably more answer than you wanted – short answer is I was well- pleased with these guys and have several uses for them. I remember some flash, but that’s why the Good Lord gave us X-Acto knives and more than one finger for…

          • Erwin says:

Thank you Wayne x taken time responding.
            I admire u painting HO.
IF were me I rather paint my dautger nails every day.:-):-)
I can’t see a darm thing on those.
I paint the big scales and only simple detail to give color and lifes. Not too deep.
I use mate colors all time.
Will post some paint work here.
I preffer mate as realistic x me.
By the way I should soon get u book in mail.Anxious to read it.
            Best…

          • Wayne W says:

Erwin, I, too, prefer matte. If I didn’t have a magnifying glass I wouldn’t try; as it is, as I age I’m reluctantly backing off the scale after all these years.

Really appreciate your support on the book; at this point, as a starting writer I need all the support I can get.

  16. rahway says:

The two new sets do not have the flash that the first two sets had. In some sets the sword points of Uxbridge, Junot and the Joker (Loup) are no fully formed.

Nelson is a little taller than the others, the other 15 are consistent with each other.

  17. rahsy says:

CHT003 and CHT004 have less flash then CHT001 and CHT002.

Three figures are holding swords upright. The tips are not always completely molded.

  18. rahway says:
