Shown above are three of the six 54mm Ideal Train figures. I have picked up a couple of these over the years. You have a standing and kneeling engineer with an oil can.
What is interesting is the Ideal conductor is a copy of the Auburn conductor. As you can see it is the same pose and it looks like they pantagraph the figure. I usually find these figures mixed in with other figures.
Paul, so is the kneeling with an oil can.

I agree. when I looked at the photo last night I was thinking the same thing but forgot to noted it.
Kent Sprecher’s web site shows all six of the Ideal Train figures – scroll down to near the bottom of page. Page also contains a variety of other interesting Ideal figures.

Nice walk down memory lane. I always liked IDEAL figures, just hated they were in so many different scales. Another company I used to like was Andy Gard, loved their ACW guys but compared to my Marx Blue and Gray… Some great cowboys and indians, too – even with the different colors.
Ideal was an enigma to say the least. They had outstanding figures for pirates, Marines and Navy, Knights and Rev War, however they were all odd sizes and didn’t fit in well with other makes. When they switched to 54mm, Cowboys & Indians, Cavalry and Mounties, their sculpting suffered and the figures were no where near as nice.
