Flea Markets

The flea market season has started for us and it looks like it is going to a rough season. The quality of material is down and prices are up. On Saturday, Laurie and I did a large local garage sale with 150 dealers.  We got there when they opened and found major changes. Many of the dealers we had bought from at the sale were not there. The material for plastic figures was down. Last year I got plastic figures from several dealers. This year I got only a few figures from two dealers. With exception of another lot I saw a collector had gotten, I saw no other figures.  Laurie found some jewelry  for resale, but she only found it at one dealer despite over dozen other dealers with jewelry.

Sunday we did two flea markets despite the weather. One dealer had two bags of figures. The one bag had five Lido Japanese in the bag with a bunch of Chinese figures.  The bag was $25.00.  One problem each Lido Japanese figure was broken! The other bag was MPC Cowboys which the dealer wanted $45.00! I did a find a bag of figures for $5.00.

I talked to a dealer and he said that he was find things nothing great. Laurie talked to a source and she said things have been slow.

One other thing at the first flea market, a reality show was being filmed. The people were from WDGH who do the  shows Antique Road show. The name of the show is Market Wars (I might have it wrong). The show has various people looking for items. I saw one person doing a deal on a lamp. Each person had a crew of  four people behind the scene. One dealer asked for his goods not to be filmed.

The second market we did had only a few items again. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out.
