Marx Figure Prototype?

I got this figure on Ebay. The dealer thought this might be a prototype. He listed it as a superhero. I checked with our good friend Mark Hegeman and he thought it might a wrestler.  So at the moment this figure is a question mark and we will have to see if more information shows up.

Kind of looks like a circus strongman, but he could be a wrestler, I don’t recognize the face.

It does look like the face is based on a real person but beats me who he is supposed to be.

I think it’s supposed to be Jack LaLanne, but I wouldn’t swear to it, that is his pose. Could be some type of tribute figure since he died.

I knew you did the pioneer woman sitting firing a pistol, but I never saw your Roman before, he looks pretty nice. Were those the only two figures you produced?

Yes Ed the western woman and Roman are the only two figures we did with Replicants. We did not do more figures as they did not sell as well as I hope. Looking back I should have done a set of a figures like Replicants is doing now. Also the money to do projects was not there. I did try to get some investors on projects, with no luck.

Yeah one figure is tough to sell unless it fits in well with other existing sets. Now a pair of Gladiators probably would have done well, but hindsight is always 20/20. I was once giving some thought to getting the Gibbs Custer set re-cast, but funds are always a problem, and that doesn’t include the legal investigation needed.

When Laurie and I did the figures we did not thing of those things then. I am still glad we tried it as we learned a lot about figures. I still hope to do figures but I have other projects that have to be done first to do. The main two projects are my book, which goes for its copyright next week and the videos. Both are six months or more behind schedule.
