October 2026 Flea Market Time: First Weekend. The month of October is loaded with shows and flea markets to do. There are so many that I skip some, as I have no time. This year I skipped the paper show and did the toy show at Jake’s Flea Market.
October 2026 Flea Market Time: Jake’s

Jake’s is my closest flea market. I did the toy show figuring I would not find anything. I started my walk and found Tom Stein and his wife Peggyunder one of the covered areas. Tom had a number of put together Marx playsets, which I passed as I had enough Marx items at this time. I did get a group flat color cavalry horses. Tom later sold most of his playsets to another friend.

Leaving Tom and his wife, I next went to a train dealer, who gets Marx pieces. He had the three above pieces that I could use.

I walked into the building that was holding the toy show. I could see that only 3/4 of the tables were occupied. As I passed the tables of action figures and character collectibles, I stopped. In front of me was a stand with figures. I knew whose stand it was Steve Falken. I started to make my selections. My first selection were the Rado reissue of the Marx 60mm cavalry.
Steve also had the Russian remake of the Marx Ben Hur Emperor. This figure had beeen done with emporess and Ben Hur.

Once I am done Steve hands me a box he had been holding for a year. In it were pieces from aTimpo playset.

Also in the box was this cardboard Mash Hospital. Is it from MPC?

The surprise of the box was the foreign figures. these just don’t pop up. These seven figures are Soldio from Belgium.

Also in the box were three JSB figures from Belgium.
One final figure in the box was the Elastolin hunter or forest ranger. He is in soft plastic. After making my purchases Steve and I talked. His wife Gretcchen has not imporoved and he was forced to bring her home because of the high medical bills. I gave him a hug as I know what he is going through.
On the way out to my car, I glanced at a table and spotted the above Flintstone figure. I normally do not buy Flintstone figure was by hisself, so I picked him up to give hima good home.

The discoveries are awesome. The Belgian figures are difficult to locate in the US. The Timpo box would be even better if it included all the items inside. The cannon can sell well on its own. I had two of these before. The Marx US Cavalry figures are appealing. I had the RADO in bags during the 1990s. The original ones I had were from my father, and the cream version was even more rare. He used them as Confederate Cavalry, and i ended up painting them without knowing it would lead to the devaluation of the figures.
Sold them years ago .
