Hobby Lobby Civil War Set: This issue, we will look at a Civil War set from Hobby Lobby. I also found an interesting item at Hobby Lobby. Finally, I will give a link to Mike Pedergast’s report on the Chicago show.
Hobby Lobby Civil War Set: a Review

My friend Peter Evans asked me if I could go out to Hobby Lobby and check out a Civil War set. He was not able to do so as he lives in the UK. I said I was happy to do it. For those of you who are not aware, Hobby Lobby is an arts-and-crafts store chain. I said I would be happy to do it.

So I went out to Hobby Lobby and found the set. The header card is plain and gives you the count of 40 and the price of $7.99.

I saw right away that the Civil War figures were copies of the BMC figures. The figures are downsized from the BMC figures. The Union had one mounted officer and seven different foot figures.

The Confederate side has one mounted officer and seven figures. What threw Peter off was that the Confederates had different hats than in the original BMC figures. The original BMC figures had kepis to save money. Also, the Confederate flagbearer is a new pose.

The set also comes with cannons and caissons. They are done in brown and gray. Overall, a nice starter set for a young person.
Another Find

One other item I found at Hobby Lobby was this floral arrangement. It reminded me of the Britains Floral Garden series.
They have others that you might find useful, such as corn stalks.
Mike Pendergast and Chicago
Mike Pendegast did his first trip to the Chicago Toy Soldier Show. He gave two reports.
One is on the show itself, while the other is on room trading. You can see both reports here.
