I remember the Tootsietoy Lido reissues from the 90’s. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Lido GIs and I love the swivel cowboy and Indian riders. You could get bags of the Tootsietoy Lido GIs at some of my local Krogers into the early 2000’s. Once Processed Plastic bought out Tootsietoy they issued some tubs with a mix of the late PP Airfix cowboy and Indian clones, Lido cowboys and Indians, and the smaller sized swivel riders.
I picked up a bunch of those knights and demons at Big Lots in the 90’s. I remember inexpensive bags of figures with catapults, and open-faced header boxes which is where I got some fortifications similar to the one in the bag pictured above.

  2. erwin says:

    Nice find..
The Schylling branded -distributed skeleton warriors nice 52/56 mm poses and skeleton horses with tree skull cave face and Britain crude copies knights were sold in 2000-2003 .I had a similar bag at NYC dollar store and later found few other poses loose. They are original designed nice figures.

  3. erwin says:

The dogs looks like copies of Marx pet shop dog poses!?. But I can see then well.Animals are copy of HK that many were base in some Britain poses in varied poses. I can distinguish well the dinosaurs.

  4. erwin says:

or may be the Blue ribbon dogs sets poses too…

  5. Daniel Murphy says:

Here are the knights and demons from Shaun’s excellent site. It has pictures of the boxes of figures. I misremembered about the bags at Big Lots – they were actually small carded sets:

I am curious as to the label on the back of the Safari card. It appears to have been a sample, perhaps?

    Isn’t that a price code?

    • erwin says:

That label is belong to main card(display box ) where all card sets come from factory .It s a generic distribution. Indicating the total assort =200 pieces per distribution /carton from distributor or maker. The “V” serial some times described as VIN or( Vendor Information Number) indicate the serial number of specific vendor ID selling them. It most have been peel off from main large case and stick back this sets. Display product sample do not come with price insert at front neither VIN number in back.

  7. Darren Hatley says:

Some Very interesting figures, I really like those Schylling Knights and Demons. I do have some of these figures but i would like to get hold of more of them, Especially the Warriors/Goblins and Demons, But there dosen’t seem to be many of them around now and are quite hard to find these days.

  8. Daniel Murphy says:

With the popularity of The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, and the upcoming Warcraft movie, you would think whoever owns the molds would break them out again. I have no idea what practical or legal problems might stand in the way. It’s funny how Imperial will run its Timmee/PP clone mold into the ground – those increasingly sad, blurry, and blobby clones have invaded Dollar Tree – but other figures like these knights and demons disappear. They were nice figures and very useful for a range of fantasy settings and games.

    • Darren Hatley says:

Hi Daniel that’s right and i totally agree with you, I collect Fantasy figures but there are not that many that come out even as you say Fantasy is big business and extremely popular for some years now, Probably since the 1980s which was why it was such a shame that BlueBox decided to not bring their Fantasy set out which i was very much looking forward to, But yes it would be Great if these Schylling figures were to make a comeback. I would certainly buy some.

  9. Ed Borris says:

You would think someone would come out with some Black Sails figures too. Pirates are always cool.

I still have some Mini Figs Lord of the Rings figures that I bought way back in 1972.

  10. Erwin says:

Most time these are not typically long resistant quality mold and once wasted are discarded or sold x scrap. Also these makers are hide and most time are only sold by distributors that go and make big deal one time purchase and do not track back original maker.I had see toy figures mold at dump metal places in china warehouses.
The brands in most packs are distriutor not original manufactures. These specific figures are over 15 years old.The cloned britain knights are still around but because TMC own the mold .
    Others not traces off.
Last aluminun type mold is the most common uses of chinese cheap production.Last few years ,then has to be redone.

  11. bill nevins says:

Listen, I could care less about these Fantasy figures. If one of you guys want them, contact me. Maybe we can work out a trade or deal…

    • Chris W Krutsinger says:

I know this was 6 years ago, but do you still have the fantasy bagged set above, or anything similar for sale? Would love to have it if so. Thanks for your time!

  12. ed borris says:

No, Mini FIGS, 25mm and metal.

    • Erwin says:

Yes ed,those are .I have the full fellowship of the ring 9 characters sets.Made in Uk by citadel.Light silver metal casting .Mine come in black case with all paintings outside

  13. ed borris says:

I bought some others in a window box, they are plastic though and look to be 54MM. I would have to go upstairs to look at them to see who made them though. They come with separate stands and weapons and they are somewhat articulated.

    • Erwin says:

Those most be the last that come with movie very well done and sold at Wal-Mart,TRU.I have an army of those.
I also have an entire LORD german made series in the 45 mm scale all painted plastic.
and the early 80 series too base in 1970 first film.

  14. The dogs and packaging are both direct Hing Kong copies of a Tim-Mee Toys/ Processed Plastic product. The Dinosaurs are either from the exAjax mold or Hong Kong copies which were also made. Processed Plastic did not take over Strombecker/Toosietoy in 2004 they merged as equals with Processed Plastic running operations but the new name of the merged operation was to be Tootsietoy. The merger was a failure and the company shut down in 2005. J.Lloyd International ought a majority of the molds and the intellectual rights (Brand Names, slogans, mottos etc…) and has been trying to put a limited line of toys back on the market. Victory Buy is selling the figure line and has recently purchased BMC.

    • Daniel Murphy says:

Many thanks to Jeff Imel at Victory Buy for all that he has done to bring back many of the TimMee/PP figures and now BMC. I hope that he will be able to reissue the Lido western and GI figures at some point.

  15. erwin says:

Interesting they used same (Champion dogs ) title set used by MARX in dog sets/mold.
I had seen same dogs run by Rubestein international from CA ,but card/toy pack said made in Mexico. Same dogs cloned or same mold also sold in Mexico bright fiesta PiƱata colors .

  16. Rubenstein never made any figures but got remnants from factories that they then sold in header card bags. They got many former cereal premium items from factories in England (including the Soldiers of the Ages figures), Canada, USA and Mexico. The dogs they got from Mexico were from a mold originally made by DOM PLASTIK of Germany. Just like US companies they also sold/leased molds to Mexican companies after they were no longer needed. Mexico used the dogs as cereal premiums and Rubenstein got the leftovers. There are several Champion dog shows here in the US so i doubt any one maker could have gotten exclusive rights to the name.

    • erwin says:

I did not said “they made it”. I said run using molds, Mexican run then for Rubestein same way Mexican owners of many marx mold run then for “classic recast” today. They did not got left over…My sources confirm it from Mexico
I know the rest about Rubestein,is been long very murky history with not confirmed true information in what they did, own ,lease ,bought or rent.
Yes they sold from many as well small cars, wagons, airplanes and snap together motorcycles else head card.
I had seen both brands Dom and Tim mee dogs sets packed under RB brand cards. Dom usually in red and yellow wile Tim Mee in more multicolor .Tim mee dogs are still run in Mexico wile DOM are not x long.
But Dom most small car toy series mold are in Mexico as off now and sold in multi packs bags. Very wasted mold with a lot excess.
Tim Mee dogs mold are in Mexico now.
I did not mention” exclusive rights to the name” either ,but just looks interesting fact they use same original name branded name set of early Marx 1950′ dogs.
      Best regards

Hey Bill, had discussed Shenandoah 54mm metal CSA heads with someone several months ago through Stad’s site & have now lost e-mail. Was it you? If so, looking for some if you can let me know what you might still have. Stad can give you my e-mail or vice versa.
