July 2025 Odds Ends Conte Vikings
Conte Collectibles has released their latest offering Vikings. Inspired by the movie “The Vikings“, the figures start off with a character figure of Einar, played by Kirk Douglas. The figure has Einar charging with an ax. The set has seven different poses with additional parts to make different poses.

I got a chance to put a Marx Viking next to Einar. I will try to show the other poses in the near future.
Mordaunt Miniatures

Last year, I had a little fun showing a mold of the Jim Hardy Figure from Tales of Welles Fargo. I knew at the time the mold was not Marx as i have seen a number of the Marx molds. This year, at the Plastic Warrior Show, the owner of the mold, Michael Mordaunt Smith handed a small batch of the figures. They are done in soft plastic. I have them in two colors, black and red. The black figure is $10.00 plus $6.00 postage U.S. The red figure I have only eight of them, the figure is $12.00 plus $6.00 postage U.S. Foreign postage is higher.
New Additions to My Collection

One of the items I got from my friend Markus Leckshied was this set of Biplant Cossacks. The set of five figures are 54mm and are in a rubber like material. I like that somany different periods are being done.

These four figures I have picked up over the past months. The figure on the left is possible a Marvel character figure. I will use him as villian. The red figure is from How You Train Your Dragon. It was given to me by my friend Andreas Dittmann at Plastic warrior Show. The figures on the right are by Imaginext. The taller figure is Ra’s al Ghul, a Batman villain and the smaller figure is Rey from Star Wars. Update 7/23/25, Chris Lamont has identified the figure on the left as Hawkeye from the Marvel Titanium series.

The Conte figure looks great. Not so much for the Jim Hardie figure. The flash seems characteristic of soft plastic when injection moulded into an epoxy mold. The heat from the plastic softens the epoxy just enough to bleed a bit at the parting seams. Allowing the mold to cool between shots can minimize the flash.
First, the mold is not epoxy but brass. Michael is doing these figures by hand. He still learning to how to work these old molds.
I think the figure with bow and arrow might be “The Phantom”
Chris Lamont has identified it as Hawkeye from the Marvel titanium series.

RE:Hawkeye/Phantom well somebody is copying somebody’s costume eh LOL.
Interestingly enough Conte was not the first company to make Einar character figure
Ougen of France made a version in the 1960s.
54mm Hard plastic
I can send an image of this if people are interested.
Peter–please send the image. I don’t collect that era, but I loved watching the film on the late show when I was a kid in Texas. I have not heardof the maker Ougen, so it will be fun to see some European putput. That is one of the great things about this site.
The figure on the right is Princess Leia in Boushh from Hasbro’s charming Galactic Heroes line circa 2007-2010.
thanks, i have a problem keeping all these figures straight.
The red figure is from How You Train Your Dragon was part of 5 poses set sold at amazon ,walmart else here ,they come out i think around 2018/19.
