Stad’s New Mascot: Ella Mai, as you know in June I lost Sparky. He had been with me for nearly 18 years. I had decided to get another friend, but held off until after my trip to the PW Show and a visit from one of my English friends. I have been looking and found new friend Ella Mai.
Stad’s New Mascot: Ella Mai

As I mentioned in the opening, I have been looking for a replacement for Sparky. One thing I decided that I would select a rescue as the shelters are loaded with abandoned animals. I had seen that are local shelter had some posiblites. Going to the shelter, I went over several with no luck. Then I spotted a female dog in a cage in the main area.
The dog was Ella Mai. She is a year old and weights 20 pounds. Ella had been brought to shelter on July 3. One of the staff brought her over and we bonded right away. I decided to put a hold on as I wanted Sherri to give me her feedback.
We went over the next day. I had Sherri along for two reasons. The first, Sherri is my dog walker and will take care of her when I am away. Second, I was picking the right dog. Sherri agreed with my selection. I made my commitment.
So she is now part of my family and she will have a great life.
She looks like a nice dog. We closed on a house near State College and start moving this weekend and will be fully moved by the end of August. We will be at the Gettysburg Show on August 24th.
Congratulations on the new house. I will see you at Gettysburg.
Good show, Stad! This is a great happening for all 3 of you guys!
Congratulations and thanks for saving a shelter dog!
So happy you found another companion! Rescued dogs seem to realize and appreciate the fact they’ve been saved and love you even more.
Good for both of you!
Paul, great idea! a new one never replaces the old one, but it helps heal the pain of loss. i wish you lots of fun times and happy walks with Ella Mai.
I agree, but each new friend gives you a different perspective on life.
What Breed is she supposed to be?Looks like a Terrier is in her Family Tree.
The shelter had listed as mixed. We are not sure either.
Best wishes for a long & happy life with Ella Mae! Its great you have a new housemate,
She make the house feel alive again.
She looks a wee cracker and good on you for going for a shelter dog. best wishes to both of you!
She is fun already. It is fun to have an active dog to keep me going.
Congratulations, good luck to both of you.
thank you
Congratulations Paul on your adoption of a shelter pup. My wife rescued several shelter dogs til this day since they all deserve a good life.
Like mentioned earlier, with each loss comes heartbreak and the understanding that one will never “replace” the other. There will always be room in our hearts for the next forever pup.
All the best to you and the hope for good health.
thank you, I planned on a rescue and found a lovely new friend.
Congrats ,awesome companion !!.
You and her deserve it !!!
thank you
