Although three mortars have been provided in the box-set, there is also the option to assemble two of the crewmen as ordinary infantrymen (see above) or even as a sniper with a scoped rifle

The set can be assembled this way too.

This and the next two are the variation possible with the Scott’s Brigade set (AMR 05) with a Negro Colonial Marine, a Mexican Militia in Bonnet de Police; and the common peaked round cap found in many armies of the Early Victorian period.

Very nice mortar set, but that embankment piece is essentially a waste of plastic unless you have several of them and Ex Force eventually makes some end pieces. It just looks odd by itself with those flat sides.

  2. Mike Handley says:

I agree…great Mortar squad, but useless embankment. Put that extra plastic into another figure!

  3. richard smith says:

availability can be as tough as the vaccine,,whats the cost

  4. Eddie White says:

They’re too big for even TSSD Japanese from the comparisons I’ve seen. Anyone feel differently

    • ERWIN SELL says:

I had made several photo compare and will send soon.
The EXF Japanese are between the classical 54 mm and 60/65 mm range ,the problem goes in their body size volume been very thick .While the high of these figures can blend partially with MARX and TSSD ,they go better with BMC,PH(Recast under OLIVER) ,LIDO and Jecsan Japanese because their volume in body .Otherwise you will have super steroid Japanese soldiers Specially if we are counting that most Japanese soldiers were smaller and skinny compare to most western soldiers .
The effect appreciation view of the scale is almost same as if you put the 21 century 1/32 German infantry next to FV brand (“1/32”) scale super muscle figures .
So when EXF says 54 mm they are not at all the old classical style 54 mm figures and their 60 mm are nor the classical 60 mm range either .
that is my observation and views only of course.
      best …

  5. Denver Forester says:

Marx GI mortar man is easily converted to Marx Japanese Mortar man.
Switching the arm is all it needs.

  6. TD Barnecut says:

Sometimes defensive structures produced by toy companies are not based on reality, but on an idealized version. Marx made some of the best – their artists perhaps had actual engineering or wartime experience on which to base their designs.

  7. james nixon says:

Maybe they would have used mud to build defensive barrier.
