Odds Ends Gary DiBello Submissions Part Two

Odds Ends Gary DiBello Submissions Part Two, we have some more figures from Gary. Next, I have a preannouncement of Hing Fat figures being available from the UK. Third, I will talk about what is my favorite figure from the New BMC Female Soldiers.

Odds Ends Gary DiBello More Photos

Odds Ends Gary DiBello
I love helping collectors better appreciate their collections. gry sent me two more photos with questions on some of his figures. In the first photo, Gary sent me he was not sure if the farmer and wife were Auburn. I confirmed for Gary they were as well as the gas attendant. MPC ring-hand, Marx Foreign Legion, and Timmee Air Force complete the picture.
Gary photo two
The other photo, Gary sent had an interesting mystery. In the center of the above photo, he had two copies of the Marx cowboy rider with his left hand raised holding a hat. Those figures I have never seen before and very likely Hong Kong copies. I like how Gary frames the mystery figures with the Ideal Indian and another Marx cowboy.

Hing Fat Figures

Hing Fat Russians
In 2017, Hing Fat showed their military figure line for the general market. They were very successful Flash forward today, if you are still looking for them they are harder to find. On Ebay they are only available from the Russian Federation. Our very good friend Peter Evans will be selling them soon on EBay UK. Some of the sets he will be selling include Anzacs, British colonial Infantry, Chinese Kuomintang troops, Italians, and Russians 54mm scale. As soon as we have more details we will let you know.

My Favorite Figure BMC Army

BMC Rosie the Riviter
Over the last year, we have been letting you about Jeff Imel’s project of any women soldiers. The figures are out and I am sure many of you have a favorite. My favorite is Rosie the Riveter. The reason is my mother was a Rosie. While she was not on the assembly line, she like many other women took jobs in Bethlehem Steel during the war. She worked in the labs. If she hadn’t taken the job, she would have never met my father, The figures will get a special spot in the collection.

  1. The red cowboys wacing their hats were made by Ajax.

Thank you, Kent. I have been going back through the archives and reading up. I appreciate your expertise, and I’m amazed at how many of the contributors know so many details. Fun stuff!

  3. MICHAEL S GREGORIC says:

    Great identification.
I have quite a few figures that are still unidentified.
Amazing, how many manufacturers there were, that were producing these toys.

  4. AJ says:

Kent’s website, AKA Toy Soldier HQ, offers a very thorough, illustrated list of most US and foreign manufactured old and new toy soldiers. Most, if not all, figures and many accessories can be identified with a little research through his site. Plus, many items are for sale at very reasonable prices. It’s a great resource to become familiar with.

    Thanks, A.J.
Yes, I have poked around on that site for years. Great research and the best “speculation” to be found considering the many mysteries of the toy soldier realm.
I have boxes of more obscure figures that need identifying… including a Marx running horse with a very unique saddle detail that is missing in later versions. (Just have to find it –if ya know what I mean. But will like to see what fellow collectors think. )
I guess what I would really like to say is that this is a GREAT site…but it seems to have lapsed into posting mainly about new production. Don’t get me wrong– LOVE the Expeditionary Forces and Spiera product–wish we had those issued in the 50’s- 60’s! And I love the promise of 3-D Printing ( New tech arrives — and produces old tech toy soldiers–Heck Yeah!). But who in our age-range doesn’t like to see a beautiful original plastic Tim-Mee roping cowboy or a Deluxe-Reading “flat white” soldier…or a chunky Marx figure…? We had it good when wuz kidz.
I also like that the site gives a nod to “conversions”… some are very clever. Great to see someone find one in a bargain sale.
I know everyone is busy with daily life, but I wish there were more daily/regular posts.
OK, thanks for letting me sound off…now, if I just dig up that unique Marx cavalry horse…

      Gary
The old stuff has been getting a backseat due to so much coming out. Last month, every time I turn around it seemed new stuff was coming out and it had to get up. Right now, I have to do a post on Conte Collectibles and Warhansa. Add to that are other commitments and projects I have not posted as much. I will try to get some old stuff soon.
