Expeditionary Force Late War WWII Germans

Greetings from Singapore!
Very pleased to inform you of the release of a new supplementary series for the “60mm WW2 Germans” range with the following set:-

60 LWG 01     Late War German Infantry – Rifles Assault Section (1944-1945)
 All models are supplied unpainted.
The set should be available for shipment by Monday, 19 October 2020.
German assault squad

By the later part of the war in Western Europe and Russia (1944-1945), the iconic German jack-boots were replaced with ankle-boots and gaiters. The mechanized warfare of WW2 involved high mobility and dispersal, traversing varied terrains in a single battle. Individual camouflage was quickly recognized as essential. Camo-smocks became widely issued to the frontline soldiers, with the Waffen SS taking the lead.

This box-set contains 9 model soldiers comprising of 1 sergeant, 1 light-machine gunner, and 7 riflemen in an assault scenario. The weapons, heads, and arms are interchangeable and will enable the assembly of at least 20 different action models. As the models are meant to be part of a single platoon or company, the variation in dress and equipment can be expected to be minimal.

German with Greande
My preference has always been for models to be in battledress but before the first bullet. We do not sculpt-in the wear-&-tear of men in battle because each plastic casting is designed to be used repeatedly. Having the same tear at the same spot for multiple models would be nonsensical in our context. (Plastic production has to be in mass volume.)
german with Panzerfaust
A rifle squad of the period is often divided into two groups: one with the firepower centers around the light machine-gun, and the other forms the rifle assault group. The squad is commanded by either a sergeant or a corporal. We have modeled him armed with the famous assault rifle, StG44. The light machine gun is the MG34.

Rifle team
The assault troops would be composed of riflemen armed with the Kar98k short carbine as well as the ubiquitous stick grenade and of course, the deadly Panzerfaust (armor-punch). As the Panzerfaust was a single-shot weapon, a slung rifle is a needed accessory for the pose.

This photo gives an idea of the size of the model. The Japanese soldier on the left is 54mm range. Note that the thickness of the models’ bases is 2 mm. The German model at the center below is a 60mm model from our existing WW2 GRM series. The new 60mm model of this box-set is on the right.
Group of Germans
One more family photo of the models for a slightly different view. There will be two more box-sets in this series to cover the essential weaponry of the period: heavy machine gun, mortar, Panzerschreck, flame-thrower, etc.

There is a request to re-produce this set in 54mm size as well. I am really of two minds as this means doubling our investment in the same set of models. Any advice or feedback as to market demand for a repeat set in a different size would be most appreciated.

Hope that you and your customers will find something of interest in these models. These are all new sculpted figures.

  1. I like the look of the Archers. I will get a couple of those sets.

I will send you some pictures of the Columbus Ohio Toy Soldier Show this weekend. I am selling the LOD/Barzso products. Plus previewing my Anglo Saxon set. Hopefully everything will be ready this Spring. The virus delayed everything.

Even though I don’t collect Military or Medieval types, I am happy to see new figures coming out. I hope someone will make some great new Wild West figures SOON!! I bought the recent LOD/Barzso captive women and fallen soldier on horse and they are spectacular. Let’s support X-Force, LOD, VictoryBuy and whoever else is making new products and not worry about incorrect uniform buttons, shoes, weapon length, etc..

  3. AJ says:

Gotta laugh – I bought this figure set from LOD for $15 2 weeks ago and NOW one of our stellar eBay boys has it listed for $35!!!! That’s higher than the price rise in silver!! CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!!!

  4. Tom Black says:

In the size comparison photo the new German looks a little shorter than the 1st series German. The Archers look great. They not only fit in a 100 yrs War scenario but Robin Hood also.

    • Henry P. says:

The scale seems to be a issue for exforce, they seem to be torn between 60mm figures and 54mm, i collect both……i started with airfix, tim mee and marx figures, but i also like the stylized 60mm tssd style figures too….

  5. ERWIN SELL says:

The first germans were never any where near 60mm but almost 65 mm and some up to 67 mm without base ,these looks close by and their legs are bended .The pose used x image is misleading. EXF has tendency to put uniform tide-closed up button to the neck, not realistic x combat at all .For been so high priced series/figures set and not economical at all they could do better.
Archers are nice ,but like see more crossbow men ,a weapon far more used by convencional armies in all Europe and Asia as well.Rest looks ok
    My thoughts
    best

    • Henry P. says:

I never noticed a difference, but i never compared them side by side either they look good that’s what matters most imo…… we are getting spoiled with all these different German soldiers…… scale creep is a problem, and i wish all their ww2 figures were the same height…. but i make a exception since they look so good…. my only complaint is i wish they were a little more personalized, that’s a minor complaint tho…..

  6. Henry P. says:

Exforce is a glimmering faint light of hope, in a cruel dark world……i hope they can continue making figures, i also hope they make some non-swappable, more personalized poses, maybe generals or staff, just to see if that has any benefit…. all the figures are a little bland, it would be nice to see a wee bit more personality
