As we noted in a previous post, Expeditionary Force will be coming out with Roman Auxilliary Infantry. Rahway pointed out that Scott of Expeditionary Force stated in his latest newsletter there would be a couple of sets of Celtics.

Expeditionary Force Odds Ends25,000 Comments

Earlier this year, I stated we were on the path to 25,000 comments. It looks like Stadsstuff will reach that goal by the end of the summer at the latest. I hope you have enjoyed the comments as I have. There have been lots of interesting discussions.

On the other side of the coin, we have gotten 190,000 pieces of spam. Fortunately, I have programs that block them from posting. We get one or two that try to denigrate me or you the readers. I laugh at them as they show how sad and desperate the person is for attention.

We will let you know when we hit 25,000 comments.

Odds and Ends

HK Swoppet Cavalry
Usually, I am knocking the swoppet figures done in Hong Kong. There are exceptions such as this cavalry figure which has a more realistic face.
Jescan soldier
This is an unusual soldier, he is marching with a bazooka. Made by Reamsa, it is part of their Spanish military series. Usually, the figure is firing his bazooka. Thanks, Mathias for the correction.

Hello Paul, the Spanish bazooka man is a Reamsa (or a later Soldis).
    Best from Chad!!!

That is correct Reamsa series (Ejércitos de España)=Armies of Spain that come in 1964 first and represent all branches of Spain army/navy,airforce and colonial corps troopers with weapons/uniform in non combat but march parade only poses of the late 50s early 60s era .The distinction of Reamsa goes with the base/pedestal or patina as is call in Spain made of almost square shape in most .Reamsa distinguish as well as making several sets mounted x same series .The sets were sold under line (Decofigur) not painted with paint bottles and brush to be paint in cases .Also sold as other countries(Belgium/Swiss else army painted for export as uniforms were very alike those countries in some sets .
The sets was last military set by Reamsa and first military non combats sets made .The owner was very monarcist and not quite pro Franco .Their sets were merely to promote the new regent choice and successor of government by monarchist and that is reason several units banners were made specific for the king units such as Box with actual Photos of the time Mounted royal palace guard of difunt King Alfonso XIII who was dethroned by Communist and republic in 1931 .
This one of rarest sets pack using an actual colored real time photo .
Reamsa march army sets were sold in cases till mid 80s still all around Spain and were last produced recast by REAMSA and Gomarza.
These are few of Reamsa sets not mark with brand bellow pedestal in many production .A mystery not explained yet on several books as to why .And reason are often very easy confuse as to be other maker because Reamsa generally stamp it name in rest its figures made.
The only other main Spaniard maker/company doing alike sets but much early (50s ) was Pech Hermanos(PH) and first come in rubber type material, later sold non painted by Oliver who took many of their molds .The PH have a more smaller oval type high base and are more hard find plus some sets represent 1940s army uniforms and weapons .
TEXIDO,MOYA,SOTORRES and LAFREDO and other minor makers did as well some sets but direct base in their former metal/lead molds cast same way TIMPO solid did in some in most cases still more hard to find and limited done
Jecsan and Comansi did not cover these army marching/band sets in their production.
Above figure is part of 4 poses foot set call – Infantry set .Depicted using the early-M36-M39 german helmet copy used by Spaniards army well till 80s
    best

  3. ERWIN F SELL says:

Celtic,.british isles ,iberian and germanic many warriors tribes often fought almost naked in summer times in early periods mainly .Later adopted more clothing .Germanic are the first reported using pants along gauls .
The barbarian warriors have many unlimited use in fantasy collectors scenes as well.
Heavy woo/leather clothing barbarian are need as many battles were fought in late fall ,early winter or cold regions as well.I think Conte is working on it better .ITALERI,HAT, STARLUX,REAMSA and most other brands celts/barbarians had not been done in cold style clothing .Romans adopted the pants from Germans and Celts-Gauls winter clothing when seen then use it for their legion uniforms as standard cover x cold regions .
    my thoughts
