Kent Sprecher of Toy Soldier Headquarters sent a photo to show the two different divers Remco made Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea set.  As note before the figure’s suit are different from what was used in either movie or television show.  I wonder if these figures had been planned for something else.  We know that Remco took their Horrible Hamilton soldiers and did them in red.  The red figures were used with Star Trek.

Starting Wednesday reports will start filtering in on Chicago Toy Soldier Show. The action will first be in the rooms. This is an unique experience where you try to be the first in the room.  What surprise you will find.  we have to wait. Rick Eber is going to have three yes three Johnny Ringo Playsets!

Ed Borris is going  to have special figure for sale  at the show that I know people will want to have. What it is I can not tell you.  All I can say you will want it to be part of your collection, especially you Don Perkins.

Sunday will be the show itself which have a few more dealers in.

We can’t wait to see photos of the Yorktown Playset.

Besides this at night collectors will get togetherto talk about old times etc.

As already noted Paragon, TSSD and Steve Weston will not be there.

Also as I said earlier  Laurie will definetely not be there.  We could only budget PW for this year.

So for you that are able to go have a  great time.

I wish you all good hunting, good talk with friends and a great time in Chicago ..

Enjoy seeing Detlef’s well-fed, well-groomed, well-pampered cats exploring around in the toy soldier boxes. Reminds me of the six (6) felines my wife and I have running around here (accompanied by a dog, as well).

I’m assuming from the sound of his name that Detlef is from Germany. May I inquire as from which city or town? The main reason I ask (other than from pure curiosity) is that growing up in a U.S. military family I lived in Kassel and Munich, Germany for a total of seven (7) years, during which time we traveled all over the country, with frequent side trips into Austria, Switzerland, and Holland.

As for the Chicago Toy Soldier Show, I regret that my wife’s scheduled foot surgery next week has left me unable to attend, forcing me to cancel my reservations at the Hyatt. So I especially look forward to the detailed reports of those fortunate enough to make it this year, including comments, observations, analysis, etc., from Ed Borris and Len Hardt. And I don’t want just words (!), I want photos, too, particularly of Mr. Hardt’s new diorama!

My next toy soldier show to attend will be the October 21 Columbus, Ohio show — not nearly as big as Chicago, but still a large, regional show with Rick Eber, John Stengel Jr., Rick Keller, Allan Ford, Larry Lovely, Steve Connel, and Francis Turner all expected to be in attendance.

But nothing can quite take the place of Chicago.

  3. James says:

Which space show was it. Blake’s Seven? I see he has used Britains road workers.

    • admin says:

He mentioned on Facebook but I could not find his comment.

    • Detlef Heerbrand says:

hallo James .. The figures represent the crew of the German scifi series “Raumpatrouille Orion”. Among other things, I agreed to use the street workers of Britains … well recognized! regards detlef ..

  4. Mark McNamara says:

Cool Detlef ! The painting looks like it’s coming along nicely ! I like the two astronauts in the blue suits !

    • Detlef Heerbrand says:

hello mark .. the astronauts are from the german manufacturer Manurba of which 10 different types are known .. since you can find them mostly without helmets i have used the helmets of yogurt frufo figures .. regards detlef ..

  5. OIF-Retread says:

i always thought the Remco divers looked like something more appropriate for “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” than for “Voyage”.

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

I agree the two divers are more alike the one represented in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
Only Nautilus submarine style in plastic and made very big scale was made in France too by a toy company.
      best

  6. Detlef Heerbrand says:

are the divers from remco new production and you still get them?

  7. ed borris says:

Anyone attending the Chicago show, stop in to room 5201, the old TSSD suite. We will have quite a mix of items for sale. We will be selling for Victory Buy as well as TSSD and what is left over of Steve Westons items from Last years show. In addition we will have roughly 40 play sets for sale as well as loose figures , vintage Marx ( 2 matching sets of tan 60mm cavalty, plus many powder blue and flat blue) my conversions and that Special figure Stad mentioned that will be for sale beginning Saturday night. So, stop by , have a beer, buy something or somethings and maybe but a raffle ticket on the Ron Lizzorty custom box for Shop with a Cop. Or, just stop by to chat.

  8. Mike Kutnick says:

I second Ed, please stop in our room, I guarantee we will have playsets and figures that no one else has[ even if we don’t have three Johnny Ringo’s] and Nostalgia playset boxes for display plus on Saturday Ed will have a CTSS world premiere of a brand new character figure, limited amounts will be for sale. Our hours will be early to late, room 5201, right off the elevators. Drinks and munchies free!

  9. Don Perkins says:

Come on, Mike — don’t do this to us. We don’t like mysteries — we want to know what this new brand new character figure is.

At least give us a hint: Is the subject still living, or has he gone on to meet his maker?

I’ve going to take a wild guess, and say I bet the character figure is Ron Barzso.

    • ed borris says:

Wrong, we are doing a Character figure of Don Perkins, you ruined it for us now that you will no longer be attending. My speech that I have rehearsed for months goes by the wayside. Thanks for crushing our dreams Don.

  10. Mike Kutnick says:

Ed is right Don, it was going to be you at the Little Big Horn singing ” Please Mr. Custer I don’t want to die” and you guessed it!
