Our very good Friend Erwin Sell sent us some pictures of the Hong Kong Copies of the Marx Romans and Trojans. The figure maker had no objections in mix two different eras. To them it was ancient figures that would sell.
One thing the this maker did was add more mounted poses. They did this by taking various foot poses and converting them to mounted poses.
This photo show three different mounted poses. The horses look like copies of Timpo horses.
This last photo shows the base of one of the foot soldiers.
These are the same mounted poses GIANT PLASTICS made in their 1/72 knock off sets.
Looking at the first pictures the four foot poses are among the six Giant made as well.
The set has 10 poses in total (6 foot 4 mounted), these are the left of my old time. Also notice one pose mounted is based in crescent foot pose. They original came in window case with bases attached to card board .The herald archer Greek was convert in to mounted archer with different legs. I don’t think I had the rest any more. I remember some come with mold end weapon finish others cut off. I had seen many HK copies but these in my opinion look not common because the mix up of three original brands to create other poses.
Of the three mounted poses shown above we have always considered that the man with staff and shield is based upon the mounted Britain ancient Trojan War Greek figure and the other two poses are based upon two Marx 60mm foot WOW Romans converted to being mounted. I have not seen a mounted bow shooter but that would be a cool pose.
The one mounted with spear is based in the crescent and crescent cloned HK also figure pose. The helmet has visor, it has an sling with sword hanging from his right ,the shield harness are exact as the one from crescent-all features not in Marx WOW .The front design shield and size is not Marx but crescent. The figure was taken direct from crescent. The other mounted(with sword) is from Marx with slight turn of head and the one with staff is in fact not as other you had seen from HK copied but with head looking in opposite direction complete.
The archer is the Britain(I call then herald some times) ,just with same mounted legs used in all rest.
I will provide picture with compare of all brands and copies next to each other for consideration.
Looks like the same mounted poses as Giants Romans. Most of the foot poses are the same too. The Giants had an archer which is the only difference I see. They substituted one Marx WOW poses instead of the archer.
