Plastic Figure News from Around The World January 2017

Plastic Figure News from Around The World January 2017 we have several pieces of news. The first one is another new company doing 1/32 scale western figures. The Greg Liska  reports on a Russian dealer selling DGN World War II Figures in figure configurations. Finally a blast  from the past as Bill Nevins sent us pictures of some figures we review back a few years ago. This we have some of the other poses they did.

Plastic Figure News from Around The World January 2017

Brian Mc Iver spotted these 1/32 scale Western figures. They are made by a company called  Warhansa.  The company has done 28mm  war game figures. This is their first 1/32 scale figures.  The set has four different figures. The first on the left is inspired by Clint Eastwood’s man with no name.  The figure has pistol out and is smoking cigar.  Figure two is cowboy with pistol out and left arm out to the side.  Third figure is a cowboy fanning a pistol.  Final figure is a busty female in cowboy gear with winchester.

One negative is the weapons are over sized.  The figures are available in blue or beige. You purchase the figures for $22.00 plus postage of $7.00 on their site. Sorry on the photo quality/

Plastic Figure News from Around The World January 2017 DGN Figures

Greg Liska  sent this information on the DGN WWII Figures.

The DGN figures that are NOT being sold in the US are now available on Ebay!  The seller is Russian and he has taken the trouble to break out the figures into sets containing one of each pose. At $9.90 for 12 figures, it’s a deal. The postage is steep at $10.00, but he combines shipping.
The listings are good to see because you get to look at all the poses. The Russians / Soviets are still only 12 poses. There was a pose dropped and another added. Basically, the kneeling radio man is traded out for a standing radio man or man with field phone. If I could see his back, I could tell which. The ANZACS are a variation on the Airfix poses, 2 of which are actually from the Gurkha figure set. The VIII Army Brits are in some rather whacky poses, reminding me of how some of the Atlantic Brits are posed. The Chinese are interesting but I’m not sure I’d ever use them. For this recent Vietnam War craze, these guys will work for early war VC. Trading out the Enfield looking rifles for AKs wouldn’t be too hard, either. The plastic, if it’s like the ones sold in the US from the series, holds most paint very well.

Plastic Figure News from Around The World January 2017 Colonial Swoppets

Plastic Figure News from Around The World January 2017

Bill Nevins  sent the following figures.  Here is what he had to say.

Plastic Figure News from Around The World January 2017

I came across these while sorting through my AWI swoppet collection. Not long ago someone posted a picture of the same type AWI figure with yellow legs. I knew that I had seen those figures before and here theyare in their original packaging.

The box is like a match box with the figure inside. Excellent graphics on the front.
The reverse side of the box shows a brief description of the 7 part figure.
It’s an odd combination. The blue tops are rubber, like gumball machine figures. The legs and other parts are in a hard plastic,  like regular Britains or Timpo swoppets.

Obviously, these were made for the BiCentennial. Does anyone recognize the importer or have any knowledge of where these figures came from?
I got a couple of the figures several years ago at the York Toy Show. I feel Bill is right they are for the Bicenntial. That is all we have at this time.

    • Greg Liska says:

Different guys, same company. The Brits are all different poses, the Russian set has a different pose added, the ‘Chinese’ sold in the US are just the Russians done in ‘nuclear mucous green’. The ANZACS don’t exist in the US sold inventory at all. I have all the US sold ones, too.

      • Erwin says:

        Yep.
The Chinese newv ones are the 10 army south .part of fiugh in Burma with British and Americans.yhe uniform was early 1938 suplied British and by 1943 start to be replaced by US uniforms.I will post direct link uniforms tomorrow.
They could be use x Indochina French war too
with FFL modern or any French soldiers WW2 or post.
The medieval set are nice too.Over 27 different poses.

  1. Erwin says:

    WOW. Those are big gun.!!!
    Looks like same principle from
others resent Russian maker .Body looks a bit odd too.
    But I welcome then….

  2. Erwin says:

    Admin.
I believe PW did a work on these figures or I red about long ago from UK.
Peter Evans or Brian may know more.
But I think are just regular HK imported by many in US and Uk under any made up name seller.
Most HK figures like swapped were sold generic under any brand. The mint card pic supplied by Bill are quite impressive .
I had see then loose figures only from UK and US only.
I have a centennial series odd collection in cards too .
    One day will share.
So far I forgets what I need dig first to send…
    Best….

  3. peter evans says:

The figures were originally made by Ri – Ti toys of Hong Kong.
They also made Crusaders, Paratroopers, American and German soldiers.
All the figures were based on, but not copied from Timpo. They were obviously made in two part moulds, as they use plug in arms for the firing and stabbing poses.
The original AWI were made in a much better slightly shiny polythene again similar to Timpo. Red and Blue tunics and white legs. This was arond 1964 – 66.
    Mounted versions were also available
I think the rubber bodies and yellow legs – I also have the legs in blue and pink- were a later issue. I also have one of the bodies done in a very pale sky blue.
The WW2 figures were also sold in boxed sets under the logo “Star Toys” in the early 1970s

  4. ed borris says:

I like the sculpts of those Western figures, except for those ridiculously large guns and Clint’s seemingly small hat. The female has that Jane Russell look.

  5. peter evans says:

I also totally forgot to mention they made cowboys, Indians, US Cavalry and Confederates – again very similar to the second Timpo ranges

  6. Mark T. says:

In addition to the Clint Eastwood figure, I am pretty sure the other two males are intended to represent Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach. $22 for 4 figures is more than I usually like to spend, but I think I’ll make an exception for this set.

  7. erwin says:

The seller of set from Russian is Andrey!!
Andrey Buslov that post here all time…

  8. bill nevins says:

Do you have any photos of the WW2 figures and paratroopers you could share?
    BOBBYGMOORE

Bobby, Somehere on here is a picture of a box set of Germans, that I sent in. It had a tank some troops and some accs.

Peter, How about the box art? Did your examples come with such extravagant box art?
For me the boxes are more interesting than the figures. Were these for sale?
    Were they give- a- ways?

    How about the label?
    Schackman, NY 10003

    Kent?

“Since 1898 B. Shackman Company has been manufacturing and importing unique gift items. Many remember our famous store in lower Manhatten in New York City. Now you can buy our wonderful products direct online around the world!”

Found this on a Google search.
They must have been the importer.
    It’s a shame they can’t spell Manhattan!!!

  11. erwin says:

Bill Shackman ,NY 10003 is the importer from 1968 till 1985 from HK for B. Shacckman.

  13. erwin says:

And here a sample product with exact same add as show in your box.
I will think the sets are from 70s to commemorate the 200 years as those sold under of “Men of 76 ” series Set and fort made in Hong Kong and a variation-not same made by STAR TOYS too.

As far at stores ,there two old location address in Manhattan on these stores …

  14. erwin says:

I may like think those cases were designed specifically for B. Shackman Company as they carry souvenirs, gift and many other stuff all well packet and decorated to be sold in two main corners of important city area. As they bring the US-NY company brand wording I will thing are made x it only, wile in other were probably sold in typical blister window case or else.Just a though …

One store old location is actually a Duane Reade Pharmacy now under Walgreens corp.

I also have several HK 3 figures solid painted set specifically well decorated box made x the 200 years commemoration and imported here as well.
The figures are the depiction derivate from an original painted ,first made by Elastolin in composition in early 30s , later plastic and copied by many around world, included Japan and Britain, I have the Japanese version as well. Set of three figures, the drummer boy, the old men with banner and wounded with flute. Marx did some poses very alike but not exact.
Will send photos in few days…
    best….
