Talking about Barzso and not only Barzso of course;but a general lack I should call of production .
Will be interesting makers cover more the winter gear/clothing and uniform in all periods general.
Many of the Indians early wars action were done using it as even in not proper winter the wildness cross country in early spring or fall was very cold and many time cover in snow, specially in Canada,Appalachian ,Ohio and upset NY were most happen. Still some main more dramatic battles were done in winter.
I always notice a lack for it.

Excellent work. Here’s a thought: Ron Barzso could lease / license his retired designs / molds to John Stengel. John could re-issue the figures in the new plastic he’s working with. This could make some really great figures available to collectors who missed out the first time around.

  6. Andy says:

How does one obtain figures from Stengel Jr.. Sounds like he makes small amounts to sell at shows only?? No web site? No retail? Sounds more like his hobby than a business.

      Andy
They are suppose to be available from TSSD

      • Don Perkins says:

It’s a hobby AND business for John Stengel Jr., but one which requires him to supplement his income with outside employment.

You can reach him at (718)418-9439.

John does not simply SELL at shows. He also is a SPONSOR of shows, including the Gettysburg Show, which he created, organized, and manages.

John says he made a deliberate decision to try making relatively short runs of each of his designs, because he is unsure if the hobby can still support the expense entailed in large, injection-mold production runs.

He says he wants to make a profit on his new ACTION CASTINGS venture, but that he also wanted to design and produce a line of toy soldiers for his own personal satisfaction, even if it doesn’t create for him a huge financial windfall.

Although John’s original intent was to use three designated companies to do mail-order retail of his products (TSSD, Tree Frog Treasures, and Steve Weston in England), I think John is coming to the conclusion that he may end up with complete sell-outs of his production at the shows, where what he sells is proving to be wildly popular.

Bill, where the headwear and heads are from!?

  8. bill nevins says:

Erwin, Those are stock Barzso French Trappers from the Braddock’s Defeat Set, I believe. They were sold in bag sets at one time.

And Irwin yes, I do have Barzso Indians all painted and ready to join their French Allies. I also have plenty of Barzso Militia and Rangers for the other side including some nice conversions painted.

  9. erwin says:
