Replicants Smugglers a Second Look

006

The smugglers in the 18th century along the shores of England were trying to  beat the heavy taxes of the English government. This was a profitable and has been used in many different books.

Replicants has produce four figures: pistol and sword, pistol  and chest, club and pistol and sitting . The last figure is sitting holding a lamp with a long stem. His right hand is in front of the stem as to signal a ship.

The figures are well up to the standards of Replicants. The figure  I like the most is the smuggler with the pistol and chest. The smuggler with club and pistol  I am not thrilled with the body position it seems off balance.  the figures can also be used as pirates. It is a nice set to add to your collection.

These are pretty good sculpts, with a nice original theme that goes perfectly with pirates — that all-time favorite. I’m going to get a set, but with 90 days to go to OTSN (but who’s counting?!), I’ll wait till I get to Steve Weston’s room, and get them there, rather than pay another $6.00 in postage, on top of Replicant’s $4.00 per figure price.

  2. Erwin says:

I will use then for treasure island adventure. they match clothing .time and depiction.
The third pose look a bit odd like cosak dancing.!?
Wonder if will match next Marx either 54 or 60 mm?

  3. ed borris says:

The third pose is either a dorkus maximus or he got shot. At least that’s what it looks like to me. There is a third possibility an awkward pose. However, the fact that his head is thrown back makes me think he has been shot.

  4. ERWIN says:

yep, also remain me of Tim Mee rare poses too.
They could be used as well for (Dick Turpin)

  5. Don Perkins says:

It’s possible, as Ed suggests, he just got shot. It’s also possible, as Erwin suggests, that he is doing a Cossack dance. But it’s also entirely possible that he’s reacting to a sudden, unexpected attack, and is still slightly off-balance. I suspect if you could capture ever split-second move in an on-deck pirate fight, many split second positions, if halted in mid-air, would look slightly unusual. In any event, I want the whole set of four, and intend to visit Steve Weston’s room to get them, right after I stop in to see what Ed and Mike have. OTSN is within planning range, and it’s never to early to begin planning my strategic moves once I arrive there Friday morning.

Don, we’ll have plenty for you to look at for sure. We’ll be all set up by Friday, might be too early for a beer, but I’ll have some there. As usual will have a wide array of figures from different eras newer type stuff and of course vintage.
