The Boys February 2014

As I mention on the main page one of Laurie’s girlfriends complained that I had not had pictures of the boys up. The first picture is of Quinn and Sparky on the top of the sofa.  Sparky was the first dog that decided to use the top of the sofa. I think Sparky  found it a nice comfortable place to rest. The one problem is Quinn like to imitates his brother and he decided to join Sparky. I know I should let Quinn do like this because of his back. Quinn is a stubborn dog at times and will take no for an answer so he will do it when you are not looking. Sparky tolerates Quinn, but at times he is not happy.

Percy has never tried to get up on the top of the sofa. I look in his eyes and see sadness at times.  It must of been his former life as he was a shelter dog.  I once took my belt off when I changing my pants and had it in my hands. I noticed that Percy was cringing. I immediately realized what was happen and put the belt out his eyes and assured Percy it was alright. I figured he had been beaten by the previous people he had been. He has not have to worry as he has a good family now.

I’m glad Percy now has a permanent loving home, and will never have to fear any kind of abuse again, ever.

On a sadder note, I see from my newly arrived issue of Playset Magazine (March/April 2014, No. 74 (Boys Camp) that one of our long-time toy soldier hobbyists, Mark Robb, from Missouri, passed away unexpectedly (on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2013) at age 60 from complications from what was supposed to be routine hip replacement surgery. I don’t know, Paul, if you personally knew him, but Mark Robb was always at the Indiana Show with a room and tables with a big variety of plastic, and I had just seen him a few months ago at OTSN, where he once again had a room full of neat stuff, and appeared to be doing just fine. He was usually accompanied by his wife. Mark had such a pleasant, warm personality that everyone who met him at the toy soldier shows always liked him. I remember at Indy 2 years ago that Ed Boris beat me to the punch and bought a big bag of Timmee knights from him. Seeing his picture in Playset Magazine as a “Fallen Soldier” was truly depressing for me, as I’m sure it was for everyone else who knew him.

Yes Percy has a loving forever home.

I saw about Mark Robb in Playset Magazine, sadly I do remember every having the chance to meet him. From what you said and the article in Playset, we was a nice guy. He will be missed.

Bummer, he was the guy selling the figures that had their bases cut off if I remember correctly, I mean he had a variety of other stuff too, but that’s what I remember the best. It’s a shame we lose another one.

      HI Mike
I am doing much better. My cardio doctor has eliminated and reduced some of my medicine. I should be off more medicine if every thing holds. My heart rate is back to normal. I have started rehab on Friday, which will get me back on track.
I agree we must keep care of our bodies. I had planned before this situation to start an exercise program. My problem had been I had a job that was too sedentary. I have now committed myself to staying health.
I will pass along to my friends in Europe your interest, but you may have better chance here.
