Kellogg’s Cereal Ad Other Odds and Ends

Kellogg’s Cereal Ad Other Odds and Ends, I start this post with Kellog’s ad for U.S. Soldiers from Kent Sprecher of Toy Soldier Headquarters. Next, I share the results of the recent Morphy Auctions which had a number of playsets. Rahway has shared two items one on more information from Expeditionary Force and someone selling my Romans.

Kellogg’s Cereal Ad Other Odds and Ends

Kellog's Cereal Ad Other Odds and Ends
As I said in the introduction Kent Sprecher was kind to send the ad for Kellogg’s Sugar Frosted Flakes U.S. Soldiers. The offer had fourteen different figures. Eight of the figures are copies of Marx and the other six copies of Lido. Kent uncover they were made in 1958. The figures were not made by Lido but by the mold maker who did the Marx and Lido molds.

Morphy Auctions Results

This month Morphy Auctions auctioned off a number of playsets. While the majority were Marx, there were also playsets from T Cohn, MPC, and Ideal. Lot 2485 contained a Marx Robin Hood Playset which went for $4080.00 plus a 23% premium. Check it out.

Expeditionary Force Update

Kellogg's Cereal Ad Other drummer
Our good friend Rahway sent me the consumer email from Expeditionary Force. (I get the dealer’s version from a friend.)
Kellogg's Cereal Ad Other bugler
Here we have additional poses for the American forces. Those poses included drummer, bugler, and fifer.
Kellogg's Cereal Ad Other fifer
Here is the fifer.
Kellogg's Cereal Ad Other artillery
Also shown is the U.S. Artillery.
Kellogg's Cereal Ad Other arabs
In addition to the Islamic Arabs, there will be Bedouin desert tribesmen, Turks (Turcoman, Seljuk, and early Ottoman), and Mamluks contingents.

Turbans
Arab heads with a turban as protection against the sun. Turk’s headdress tends to have furs as protection against the cold.

Scott also has problems shipping small orders.

Due to the prolonged pandemic, global logistics are undergoing cataclysmic changes. Our previously evolved process and cost structures are no longer workable. For a start, we are no longer able to ship small orders (less than 4 box sets) in a single parcel. Commercial shippers, like DHL, charge parcels of less than 2 kg the same charge as 2 kg (volumetric). (Our infantry sets weigh less than 300g.) China Post Office air parcel service to foreign addresses (although postage charges by 250g steps) requires the sender to open the parcel for contents inspection before accepting custom declaration for postal registration. It is extremely time-consuming for multiple parcels. We don’t use them anymore. Transfers of items from our warehouse in China to Singapore have become subject to Singapore GST of 7% for all transactions. Previously, parcels of less than USD 300 (SGD 400) are GST tax-exempt. Paypal no longer refunds us their commission deducted upon collection when we make a refund after a short period. There are many other changes that require us to adapt to survive. In a nutshell, please help accumulate your orders to 4 box sets or more before placing orders on our website and making payment via PayPal. Your kind understanding and support are most appreciated. We will adjust this practice once the situation permits us to do so. Take care, Scott

Stad’s Roman

Rahway passed along an Ebay listing of my Stad’s Roman. I agree they are hard to find at the moment. I know that they are in the basement, but I can not go down the steps at this time.

Very interesting and enjoyable posting, Paul. Thank you and Kent for all your time and effort.

Yes, “hats off ” to Paul and Kent… !
Paul has created and maintained a great website! Take care to get well Paul. The rest of us can post until you are back in action.

And Kent’s site is the most exhaustive resource available. Well-organized and photographed. Brings back lots of memories, too.

While I’m at it, have to say “Shakos & Turbans off” to Scott at Expeditionary Force! He and his crew have exerted a remarkable effort to bring collectors an extensive, detailed and mostly historically correct selection of toy soldier sets. The sculpting is always so amazing. Great details ( but a lazy painter’s nightmare , lol)!

If other collectors paint up these figures, please post. I think a lot of us would like to see the results.

I have a question does anyone know how to contact chintoys? I can’t find there Facebook group.

  4. The steal of the Morphy was a large doll house that went for $260. You can see it has the HTF Fox Hunt set + lots of children and adult figures. The Marx sets start on page 42. Someone bid $88,000.00 on a Japanese metal robot!!

      Kent
It was a steal for the fox hunt. Most of the bidders were not into dollhouse playsets. Battery robots are bid money. I was told most went to Japan. They did not see them as they were exported.

      • Biff Smith says:

I won the Allstate version of that dollhouse playset (mint) from one of Bower’s auctions decades ago. Kinda the same circumstances–I don’t think anyone else really knew what is was (his auction descriptions were brief at best). It was magnificent! Weighed a ton.

Never heard of Morphy Auctions, thanks for the link Paul !
