JJ's Chicago Finds Two Mokarex
JJ picked up this Mokarx WWI pilot from a dealer at the show. The dealer had a number of WWI figures from Mokarex. Checking Accueil Mokarex, I found the name of the pilot is Guynemer. Georges Guynemer was the top French ace with 54 victories until he was killed in 1917. These figures are a great addition to a collection.

Marx Figure Copies

Marx soldier
JJ got copies of the Marx six-inch that had been pantographed down. In this photo, we see Marx U.s. Army clubbing, U.S army throwing a grenade in his right hand while holding a submachine gun, and army standing firing rifle.
Copies of Marx
Here we have the other three Marx six-inch pantographed down. They are the U.S.Army running with a rifle out to the right side, Running with right hand up left hand with a submachine gun in his right hand, and with bayonet rifle across the waist

Other Figure Finds

Lido and Deluxe
JJ found these two figures in a bin. The figure on the left he thought was the Lido Captain Video character figure. It is not. The figure is one of Lido’s army figures. Checking Kent Sprecher’s site, he listed the figures as army paratrooper standing. the figures were sold to T Cohn, who used them in their playsets. they used them in their playsets. The Captain Video is a hard plastic figure about three inches high. In Space Figures Part Two, you can see the figure. It is the fourth photo in the top left.
Deluxe Reading figure is from their space sets. There are figures and one dog. the dog is the hardest piece to find.

  1. The blue Lido GI was part of a series of eight soldiers made by Lido circa 1951. In hard plastic metallic colors they were wholesaled to T.Cohn for their captain Video Space Port play set in the early 1950s. The soft plastic figures in colors other than army greens were used as cereal premium and perhaps for other sets as well.

The Marx pantographed copies came out about 20 or so years ago.The obscure maker did WW2 Russian, marines, germans and russian .all for sets have 6 poses and are base in both the 6″ and 3/4′ scale marx poses mix .The detail is not quite as Marx but cool enough and worth collect then as true 54 mm match with original marx 54 mmm.
CTS carry few sets no long ago.
the CTS revised marx copies poses included in first WW2set are not part of these others .
I made a post here with all 4 sets few years back.
I believe Greg Liska also got hand on then ,.
The maker is presumed-probably Italian as had been sold off there in headcard bags with made italy in card under BARABELLI logo as well from Uruguay/Argentine where i got mine many years ago with another importer brand.
They are still quite abundant from both countries at international ebay
    best

I have the WW2 Russian set based on the Marx 6 inch. A little too small for my liking. On the small side of 54mm more like the size of the Cold War era figures Airfix did of Brits, West Germans, Russians size wise.
