Plastic Figure Odds Ends Rel Cavalry

Plastic Figure Odds Ends, we have a number of things to cover. First, I showcase a Rel Cavalry box with mystery. Next, Rich Fisher has some figures he needs to identify. Brian Johnson shares an ad for BB machine gun.

Plastic Figure Odds Ends Question

Plastic Figure Odds Ends Rel box
I got a bunch of figures in a Rel Cavalry box.
Plastic Figure Odds Ends back of the box
When I looked at the back of the box, I noticed something odd. The box listed 2 shell shooting cannons. In all the years I have never a firing cannon from Rel. Checking Kent Sprecher’s site for Rel. He has the non-firing cannon with the caisson on his site. Have you ever seen one?

Rich Fisher’s Mystery Figures

Mystery figures
Rich Fisher sent me two photos. The first photos are of three 54mm Indians
second mystery photo
The second mystery photo has three rubbery figures. The standing Indian with a dead duck is 3 inches tall. The cowboy with the two pistols is 2 5/8 inches tall. The Indian chief sitting is 1 1/2 inches tall. When I first got the photo from Rich, I thought the sitting Indian chief was Koho. Taking a second look, I feel they are from Eastern Germany. We will wait to see if I am right or not.

Recent Additions to MY Collection

Copy of Britains Farmer
I recently got some interesting items from Detlef Herbrand. The first one is a farmer.
Dom camerman
Here is the Dom cameraman from the African series they did. The figure can be used in other settings such as a war correspondent in a battle. Over the years I have collected various figures with cameras as they show the change in our life. When we got our photos with John O’Hurley, we were told it was the first camera used. The rest had been cellophones.

  5. Both of the store demo boards I picture at my REL page list SHOOTING CANNONS. I wish I would have bid higher or at least gotten bigger pictures. The “REL” blister card at the link above is very unique. When I spoke with the REL family they told me they quit making toys in the 1962-1963 time frame. The blister card is marked Plastic Toys & Novelties Corp. which is a different company that was owned by Michael “Mickey” Denmark in Brooklyn NY. In his Marx Western Playset book Jay Horowitz thanks Mr Denmark for helping him get started. So Mr. Denmark either leased the REL molds or bought product from REL to make the blister cards. He also made the big metallic blue WWII vehicles and Tim-Mee copy armymen. Vehicle wheels are marked PT&NC which some collectors mistakenly think stands for Payton Toy & Novelty Corp when in fact the letters stand for Plastic Toy & Novelty Corp. Payton always used Payton Products as a name.
