Odds Ends Plastic Figures Guards Civilians

Odds Ends Plastic Figures we take a look at various figures from my supposed non-existence collection. First, we will look at a Marx Warrior of the World style Horse Guard. We follow how I save a Timpo guard by adding a Dabro part. I have a civilian or two floating around in this batch as well.

I have shown this figure before many years ago. My good friend Peter Evans found it in a charity shop in the UK. It is a Marx Horse Guard done in the Marx Warrior of the World style. The figure is not of the regular Warriors of the World. It was sold as souvenir in the UK. The Horse Guard is hard than the Life Guards, which are hard to find as well.

In junk box lot I found a Timpo grenadier without a bearskin hat. Instead of throwing him out, I went to my Dabro parts that my friend Axel Sohnius had sent me. There I found the above hat.

What do you think? The figure has been added to the collection.

Marx did two figures for their Fort Apache playsets they never used. The woman with yoke carrying two buckets. is one of them. Her mold along with the pioneer tricorner hat with an ax was found by Nick Argento of Glencoe Models. He sold them with duplicate pioneer poses. It is a question why Marx changed his mind in not using the molds.

The mother with son is from the Marx Skyscraper figure set. The set had 16 figures in 15 cavities. This was the only two figure piece in the set. One thing I like about civilians is they are a window of the changes in our world. Here we have the mother using a leash for her son. In the 1950s this was common. Today it would be looked down on

Dabro parts are a great asset for the modern Timpo collector. I wish they would start producing their own figures!

I was led around on one of those leashes as late as the mid-1960s! My wife and I even used a modern monkey backpack type harness setup for our son the first time we took him to the beach when he was 2 in 2008. You can still get them, but they no longer look like something you’d put on your pet. This isn’t our kid, but here’s what it looked like.

I like admin idea headgear change .It look as an Austrian hungarian soldier on WW one or close enough with just a simple touch.
Some time simple changes give us entire figures.
AIP use-made in purpose the simple not much detail uniforms and barrely not gear to use sets in many armies .It was specifically mention to me by Tony many times .While it work in some ,in others were far to disparated in my opinion unless painted fully that help cover and disguise a lot.
Other day i notice this ebay listing where a seller or original owner swap cowboys hat and put in modern soldiers.
I like the simple change as they can be used as australian, indochina,Dutch colonial soldiers else .
