Odds Ends Part One November Reader's Contributions Anniversary

Marcus Lecksheid sent me the above photo of items he got the last two weeks at flea markets.  He was pleased with the items he picked up. As you can see Markus  got a number of Timpo figures.  He was surprised that he got a couple Timpo helm knights. Besides the Timpo figures, he got a Dom Tarzan and French Zorro. I do not know who made the truck.

Detlef send me this photo of some conversions he did. He took some Plasty Indians and gave them hair to make them Apaches.  I like the sitting pose with the legs out which he did extra work. I also like the standing Apache with pistol. Conversions really enhance your collection and scenes.

Odds Ends Part One November Reader’s Contributions Anniversary Another Anniversary

I found out recently that Stad’s Stuff has another anniversary. On October 26th of this year marked the eleventh year with Host Monster  our internet provider. Prior to that I had been been with two local providers that went out of business. I decided to get national provider. For four of those eleven years, I used Front Page. My computer went out.  I could not get replacement copy for Front Page.  I went over to Word Press and will recognize that day over the other.

Odds Ends Part One November Reader’s Contributions Anniversary Short Takes

I did a train show today. One dealer was trying to sell his BMC Civil War figures for $2.00 each! He was high on his other plastic figures as well.  I bought nothing from him.  from another dealer I did get a metal Zulu hut,  that I will be showing soon.

I have two more shows for the year. Laurie and I will do York Toy Show. The show is on November 25th. This show is big it has over 635 tables. It is in two big halls.  We will see some friends and wish them happy holidays.

I will be doing alone The Greater Lehigh Valley Toy Show. (Laurie has to work.)  This show is held at the Merchants Square Mall from 10Am to 2PM. I occasionally find a few items.   This will my last show of the year.

  2. Detlef Heerbrand says:

hello .. Markus has been really lucky .. the knight with visor one finds only rarely at the flea market .. I have not seen years there ..

    detlef ..

  3. Don Perkins says:

I think Markus finding Timpo knights at a flea market is a pretty good find. I don’t think I’ve had that kind of luck here in the U.S. in the last 15 – 20 years.

And Detlef putting the Apache-like hair on those Dom swoppets makes them look like some of the best Apache figures around.

Finally, good luck to Admin and have an enjoyable time at the York and Greater Leheigh Valley toy shows. They’re always fun. Out here in the Midwest, we’ve got the big Kalamazoo Toy Show the last weekend of this month (in Kalamazoo, Michigan). I’m not going, but its a big show and dealers & collectors from all over Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois converge on it twice a year — once in the Fall, and then again in the Spring.

And I like the guy whose asking $2.00 per figure for BMC Civil War figures.

I always liked the BMC Civil War figures — they line up very well in typical Civil War formations & firing lines.

You probably should have identified yourself as a retired toy soldier dealer, and offered him $2.00 for the LOT, which would have been a more realistic price.

  5. Kirk Larson says:

The truck in Marcus’ haul is an Alvis Stalwart by Airfix.

  6. I might go to the York and Allentown shows if I am not too busy. Last week I worked 16 hours on both Thursday & Friday. We have been really busy at work lately. Most weekends I just rest and do a few things around the house. I never went to the York show.

  7. ERWIN F SELL says:

Cool nice finds.I think every year is harder to find these.
    Best

  8. Markus says:

Yes the vehicle is of course the Alvin Stalwart done by Airfix.
Weird 1:32 line as the only troops to with, Modern British, came out later. Same with Abbot and 105mm gun.
Lucky find. Found it about 10am so I thought all the good things had been gone.
But its been really a long time finding such a lot of the more uncommon Timpo pieces.
On the Zorro I’m not sure. As its not JIM or Cofalu to name the only french makers I know that covered the subject its maybe not Made in France.

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

The zorro pose is apertantly common found random off ebay. Least x me abriad from France and Belgium.
Yet it has not be identify yet by French.
The Alvis vehicle has not use x me.it serve an era of barely no conflicts.
I only have one as collection but see then around often.
Airfix could had made a better one from WW 2 I think.
      Best

  9. Brian Johnson says:

I use the truck to transport my invading Russian hordes as it has a certain East European “Foreign” look to me.
