I received one comment from one party that chided me for not knowing  it was Nardi.  It is not  Nardi it is Jean Hoefler!

Swoppet Indian Figure Identified The Evidence

Here is a close up of the box set.

Jean sold the figures loose and on cards.

Swoppet Indian Figure Identified My Figure

Based on this information I checked my figure. The base on the bottom  is marked West Germany.  The pose is not shown so it possible that he is combination of the kneeling leg pose and bow man.  This is a problem when you get figures out at show or flea markets.  I like this pose.

Swoppet Indian Figure Identified Nardi

I looked at several sites for Nardi and I found no figure that matched the above figure. Nardi did swoppet style figures, but not in the style of the above figure.  An example is the Atlantic site which shows Nardi figures.

Swoppet Indian Figure Identified Final Thoughts

Stadsstuff.com is a site for discovery. Here we let you know about new figures even before they come out. I also share old figures. Some figures that are shown bring back fond memories. Other figures are new and show something to look for.

I may get the company who made it  wrong or do not know. I am happy for corrections.

When you chided me for not knowing a figure. Be careful that it does not blow back on you.

The difference from Nardi is huge to these, unless you had never seen a NARDI figure before you cannot confuse it, the one saying it was Nardi may need buy some NARDI to see then close if can afford it.
The main style base indicates the difference.
The poses and style of body are different. The hair style may be alike with as 2nd series generation after transition of NARDI production yet not same and NARDI did not do the odd grey color as JH. There much to talk about it.
Besides NARDI did a huge array of swapped figures in 4 main scales. Plus, Nardi did first ever all plastic TIGER II, SHERMAN tanks and 88mm plus other true 1/32 scale nice WW2 toys
Admin knows NARDI very well as he had post here before.
    One sample here.

Even NARDI made in Uruguay had a word name below
Nardi as well TIMPO and Cherilea with Plasty, ELASTOLIN are the easiest recognize swappet figures brand, also as they are clearly market bellow (Some Cherilea were not)
Italian brands such ISAS and other swappet such rare GIOPI are harder to identify as sometimes were non-market and style was mix and varied easy to confuse plus less know, Yet ISAS was very well exported.
Other hard to identify and rare are JECSAN swapped line, I manage get two of them recently
MARK T did mention it as JH correctly and alike figure was post here over a year ago recognized as such too, even Markus from Germany I believe also post some info about it.
I happen to have a catalog JH and send photos.
Nardi figures made in Uruguay factory also are same just with minus colors and base variation. The book published about NARDI is also interested history company data source recommended.
The rare fire of main NARDI factory and offices after some struggle with money/ELSE problems by owner put end to maker but in short time they invade the market and beat ISAS,ATLANTIC and DULCOP in the toy soldier market as competitors according to era newspapers during years consecutive.

  3. James says:

I never saw an Indian done like that with white hair.

    • admin says:

Onlt Jean Hoeffler has done siliver hair whywho knows.

      • ERWIN F SELL says:

In fact is more odd and rare see indians with grey hair ,it does happen but not common ,even indians at old age often show poor or none grey hair .Same way they show barrely facial hair and almost no loss of head hair or being bold .So the idea is very curious and peculiar being used in indian figures.Indians did color hair in other tones often and varied by tribe or else.

One of the Britains Deetail Apaches, (with pistol and tomahawk), has nice grey flowing locks. Why do you never see any bald apaches?

        • ERWIN F SELL says:

Yeah in my version is white hair ,not grey .
I guess painters use any choice ,i gut two original mexican one with redish hair other dark blond. You never know where imagination flights.

    Hi Stad,
I have just found very similar toy soldiers in a brazilian page. They comment that their brand is “Kiko” and they were manufactured in the 1970s.
The following link shows one of those figures, an archer like the one you have shown, but in the same site you can find more models:

I hope this information is useful.
