We start off with a conversion I just acquired. The person took a BMC Civil War Figure and changed him into a soldier in winter dress. Odds Ends Part Four New Gabions, Cowboy Instruments, FiguresThe person put a lot of work into him. I wonder if this figure was made for Napoleon’s escape from russia. Sadly this was the only one  in box. Odds Ends Part Four New Gabions, Cowboy Instruments, Figures

A friend in Europe did not have the MPC ring hand hunter. I told him I would find it for him. Well I ended up with both versions no base and base.  As a child I called this figure Ramar as Ramar of the Jungle. I thought that it was because I love the show. It was not until years later when doing research did I found that MPC  did a Ramar of the Jungle set. Odds Ends Part Four New Gabions, Cowboy Instruments, Figures

Finally we have these two mystery figures I picked up. The woman on the left is holding an umbrella. The other woman is with a young girl.  Do you know who made them? Are they by P&P Products?

Some years ago I was offered a mint in the box Rahma of the jungle set. I was offered 200.00 for the set. I went to a tow show and over heard the dealer asking 150.00 for the set. That really turned me off. There was nothing special about. MPC ring hands white hunter and natives. Some natives ,and jungle animals.

    • The MPC Ramar of the Jungle set was dated 1955 which may be when MPC started up. They took the PECO idea of attachable accessories and made these jungle figures. The first figures did not have bases so after a short period MPC retooled the mold to add bases. The four figures + the seven (I think) accessories were made in the same mold. Their second mold was pirates. Again 4 figures + accessories (11) were also made in the same mold. After that, somebody at MPC had the idea to make the figures in separate molds from the accessories and MPC made the 4 “shirt & pants” as farmers but then they became cowboys in brown, firemen in red and police in blue etc… The the six figure “military” figure mold (zombies according to some collectors today). Green as army red as firemen, blue as police, white as skiers or medical, odd colors as spacemen. Just add different accessories.

    I meant toy show.

  3. Evan Oelrichs says:

Could you post the link to where to buy the gabions?

  4. Hi Paul, all the western figures here are by Cyrnos not Clairet, except for the banjo player, I don’t know who made him but I think he may be from Germany. I don’t know who made the snake charmer but the style is very French, similar to JSF or RF.
The two ladies are very nice they look to be made of resin.

  5. Don Perkins says:

I agree the two lady figures are very well done. The slight roughness of the plastic on the red one, as well as the sculpting, resembles a Replicant’s figure, in my opinion.

And the conversion of the BMC figure does indeed look like some creative collector put a lot of work into into it. As you suggested, it looks like something that would be on Napoleon’s retreat from Moscow in the Russian Winter. It reminds me that there don’t seem to be too many figures which capture that moment.

  6. Mike Mullins says:

I have both of the female figures. P&P did them.

  7. Markus says:

Brian is of course right on the cowboys. The banjo player to the right is Clairet (marked under base) the others are Cyrnos. No real idea on snake charmer but think I picked it up either in France or Belgium.

  8. Mathias says:

Hi Paul. The snake charmer is by Acédo.
    Cheers.

Thanks for the information. It is what I miss in doing shows in Europe finding interest figures. Here I am Marx figure to death.

  9. Markus says:

Thanks Mathias for add up on snake charmer.
Think Acédo did a number of nice figures from Africa but that’s the first character from India of this maker I’m aware of.
Must admit I always get lost as soon as the Acédo sticker on the figures is missing.

  10. Markus says:

    Small extra add up.
Should have taken a much closer look into Alain Thomas excellent “Soldats Plastiques T. 3 Acédo et JSF” but finally found the snake charmer at the Zoo Series (trouver le charmeur serpent finallement). At least I’m happy to have the chasseur colonial in two different color styles but now looking for la femme voilée. And the Bison, must be very hard to find.
