Barzso’s Collectible Pewter Indian Village Figures Final Thoughts

Thses poses are great addition to a scene of an Indian village. Many of the poses are unique. I am sure there are some people complaining why weren’t these 54mm figures done in 54mm plastic or resin.  Hopefully Ed will be able to give or get an answer.

Ed’s I believe has some of these figures. for sale  We will keep you informed.

Nice to see these figures in metal. They were, however, done in resin (I have them). I don’t think they were quite 54 mm, but reasonably close. They were sold as an Indian village set and then came in a playset or two. I want to say they were sold in a Zorro set, but am not sure about that.

  2. James Henry says:

They were not in the Zorro set

  3. Mike Kutnick says:

A few of the poses were in the Zorro set and in the Buffalo Hunt playset and, yes, they were sold in bagged resin sets. We have been given permission by Mr. Barzso himself to state that these are original Barzso brushed pewter metal sets made in the USA and we are authorized to sell them. Ed and I have complete sets for sale. You will get all the figures pictured in individual bubble wrapped packages. We will also have them for sale at the Chicago Toy Show next month.

  4. ed borris says:

Ron himself told me that some if not most of the figures were not produced in plastic resin. I know the squaw with the hoe and the papoose were as I have them in plastic.

As far as why he decided to produce them in pewter and not in resin plastic wasn;t discussed, I got the feeling he just wanted to try something different. He did have a number of the pewter sets painted by some fellow from Argentina that he met at OTSN.

We are planning on selling these sets, we will have them for sale at OTSN. If anyone else is interested in purchasing this unque and fine set please feel free to contact me or Mike.

  6. Don Perkins says:

Mike Kutnick is correct. I purchased from Ron Barzso both his Zorro Playset (which had the hoeing/gardening female Indians (I hesitate to use the word “squaw”), and I had the Indian woman (perhaps I should say “Native American woman”) who’s alarmedly pointing, in Ron’s Buffalo Hunt Mini-Set.

And both of these Indian Camp figures were sold in Barzso bag sets as well — all in resin, of course.

I know I can’t afford the pewter versions, but they look like they would be nice to have in a collection — especially since Ron Barzso is now concluding his business — other than the portions he’s turning over to Ken Ciak of LOD Enterprises, and which Ken has now assumed control of.

You could afford them, they won’t be out of this world prices. It will be less than $100.00. Once we crunch the numbers I think it will be around $75.00 a set. Somewhere in that neighborhood anyway.

  7. Two indians carrying a deer were also made by Clairet in France, picture here: http://www.toysoldier.freeuk.com/wildwest.htm several French firms also made single figures carrying prey from the hunt.

There are so many figures to remember also I do not think I saw the Clariet version.

That is one of the great services of this website and others like it – the ability to share and draw on the knowledge of other collectors. There aren’t many times I visit this page that I don’t learn something new about the hobby or see some interesting figure I’ve never seen before. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to host this page.

Wayne thank you for the nice words. I will not let it go to my head. Comment Time which I look at this as its sucessor has been at the center of our hobby. It has allow us to share information months before printed publications. The present format has allow you the readers to respond to our information. I am glad that many of you enjoy it.

Paul, I’m sure if any of us try to get too bigheaded there are MORE than enough head shrinkers to take care of it. LOL

But too often we don’t take time to give credit where due. I know I’ve said here and elsewhere that where I live I feel totally isolated as a toy soldier collector. I can’t even find the isolated Hong Kong knockoff at flea markets or yard sales – and I know I bought my last Marx toys in the 70s down here and some re-issue MPC stuff in the 90s.

The internet and sites like these have been a godsend for me to not only get news on what’s out there, but not feel so isolated as most shows are too far away for me to attend. I go to the Texas Show every year or two because both my wife and I love San Antonio as a getaway over and above the show. So occasionally, I think a word of gratitude is warranted. Have a great day!

The markets here are hard for me due to competition and things not showing. Also this summer the weather has been an enemy if it is not too hot we have rain. This past week has seen the weekend shot with heavy rains causing flooding. I had to put one source on hold due to the weaqther.
