Plastic Figure Showcase Part 7 Tarzan, Elastolin CherileaDetlef Heerbrand post this on Facebook and I thought that you would like to see some of the different Tarzan figures done in Europe and China.  He was gracious to let me share the photo with you.

As you can see  there is quite a number of them.  In the center is Jane and Tarzan by Kinder. To their right are the Dom Tarzan figures and some ring hand MPC figures. (Detlef does not if he has a MPC hunter so I will get him one.) On their left are Dulcop, Spanish Chinese versions.

I have kept very good care of the figures and memories.

This prototype figure was done by Peter Cole of Replicants. It was proposed for the figures we did with him. Sadly the first two figures did not sell well so the project was abandoned. Plastic Figure Showcase Part 7 Tarzan, Elastolin Cherilea

Cafe Martin did a series of French Boy Scouts. This is the one one I have in my collection that I know of.

I am doing the next series of photos for Mike Pedergast of Warhorse Miniatures.  On his blog, he has gotten a number of Foreign figures recently. Looking at the photos I noticed he had incomplete Cherilea cavalry stabbed with a spear.  I thought I would him and everyone complete version. Finally who made these 45mm knights. I know they are from China.

That’s a very nice collection of Tarzan figures Detlef has assembled. I especially like the solid green set over on the left, which appears to be injection-molded soft plastic.

And the colorful box art and illustrated cardboard bubble-pack make perfect backdrops to the whole display.

On the Replicant Roman, it’s too bad Replicant never produced & released it. I’ve got about 30 of the “Roman defending with sword” figure which goes along with it, which I got from Admin, Erwin, and various “dollar” boxes which I’ve run across at shows.

But a line of the Roman spearmen would have gone very well with the “defending with sword” figure. I can’t help but feel if these Romans had been released as a set (rather than just the swordman all by himself) they would have sold better as a 2-figure set, rather than just a solitary, single figure. And I think if Peter Cole had sculpted a 4-figure set of Romans it would have sold even better back then.

The knights are made by Toysmith – their Guardian Knights. Originally they were in a painted pvc-ish plastic and painted – half accented blue and half red. Now they come in a stiff but durable hard plastic in black and silver. I really like them and they match up well with other 45mm knights that have come out over the years.

  3. That is a nice collection of the Tarzan figures. I like the way he display the figures with the playset box and the other art in the background. Thanks for showing the complete Cherilea Cavalry figure. My knowledge of these vintage figures is a a novice level. I not looking to collect any sets of vintage figures. Just some select figures that catch my eye. Those figures are brittle. Right after I took the pictures of that wounded figure, his head popped off. I will have to glue it back. Another Cavalry figure’s head had popped off in shipping. I will have to take a look at those boxes of loose figures at the next show I go too. I am going to restore most of those figures that had the paint of them.

    Take Care, Mike

The Tarzan playset in background is copy from 80s of HK BLUE BOX playset produced and original made poses ,i had sold three of then to Germans who consider it very interesting well done set .I had done entire post about it with both version by BB and later generic HK version. The collection of Detlef Heerbrand is quite impressive in many range.I share many info often in his facebook awesome daily posts w him. Thanks x sharing here !!!
The Elastolin composition are only non plastic i own over two dozen from my grandfather
The knights are part of 6 poses sets made in china included mounted sold painted and unpainted, all over amazon and else .Made in 2012 thing first .You can buy entire large bag x few dollars off amazon. The archer pose is the best in my opinion to make line archers. The poses appear to be not be copies of any other.
The Peter Cole’s roman pose was very nice done ,too bad not produced but i understand the difficulties of these early 90sa production and still..
I had manage convert many of produced pose and like it .
The plastic used variation give some better details than in others
    My thoughts.

I would like to know the brand and how to buy a set of the green Tarzan figures shown to the left. Wonder why Marx never did a Tarzan set with their jungle pieces?

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

The figures in green are belong to Spaniard very rare brand that come along w 12 native African warriors and hunters plus animal.(not to be confused w PH mold set recast by BUM later pleasse).
The maker mold was run under Pipero in 80s and sold in bag not painted and that is what is more easy found only in europe, mostly Spain,France Portugal and Belgium. They are not common but if you buy direct from todocoleccion site from Spain you may able get then loose or as set.
      Best .

      • ERWIN F SELL says:

Sorry i forgot add the name of original maker .
“Creaciones Reymon” -often misspelled as Raygon or Reygon ,it was a smaller maker of plastic figures that with difference of MONTAPLEX and others did most figures not copied from main Spaniard brands but original and unique. The Reymon Tarzan ,Jane, boy and ape (cheeta)were made with 12 Pygmies natives in 1960s but in contrast with standart african natives made by most this set has pygmies. The store retail (Ilusion) sold repack under it is name the set in bags adding to non spaniards collectors the confusing of brand name thinking the maker name is (La Ilusion ).La ilusion was a store line same way as El Corte Ingles in Spain that had dept stores and repack sold many products under its brand name logo.
Reymon also produced nice set mounted indians and cowboys in more 54/60 mm scale versus standard 60-70mm spanish brands .
Reymon also sold Jecsan and Comansi else reissues in last years 80s-early 90s in bags before go out business .Either in bag or as premiums too .

There other Spain brand -Sotores; that did a painted Tarzan jane and ape set in other original poses in 54 mm too.
        Best …

Thank you for letting me share this photos and others. Many collectors are not on Facebook and this gives a chance to share with more people. You have a wonderful collection. The readers here enjoy seeing figures from around the world.

  8. Don Perkins says:

Yes, I think all American collectors enjoy seeing figures in different countries — for me in particular from Germany, as I went through most of my pre-school & elementary years in Munich and Kassel, Germany, with my father stationed there in the U.S. Army.

As a result, I grew up on Elastolin castles and medieval figures, along with Mertens, both of which remain my favorites to this day.

  9. John says:
