Years ago I bought figures from a massive collection. The person made various scenes the figures were from models kits mostly.  This is one of the figures. It is Vietnam U.S. figure. I don’t  know if it is original figure or conversion. Do you know?Odds Ends Part Six June 2018 Ollie's, Mystery FiguresThe next figure  I picked up years ago and found when I looking through the collection.  I think could be used as a partisan. Do you know who made him and who he is. Odds Ends Part Six June 2018 Ollie's, Mystery FiguresThe last mystery figure is WWII German laying firing sniper rifle.  Actually it is not a mystery it is CTS German figure.  My figure is missing the separate tree piece.

In a previous posting I showed an early Hong Kong copy of the Lone Star Tarzan. This is a latter version of the figure. You will notice the raccoon eyes. The artist had little patience and justdab black paint on the figure. I acquire two just like this.  The skin tone  lighter than other figure and more flesher.  Lone Star did a mounted version which I have an unpainted example.  This Lone Star Tarzan figure will show up in a future post.

The CTS laying German sniper is, I think, the best figure of their early German set. When you say “Polish Association of the Deaf”, does that mean Deaf people made the figures?

I agree in cammo sniper pose been one of only best in their early CTS set. Some poses in that set were horrible done in my opinion while others were copies of Marx direct .The disparaty in scale heads and as wrong done helmets in some figures disappoint me.The Japanese come a bit better and Italian better even …
        My thoughts.best

You could definitely see an improvement as CTS has progressed through the years. Some of the Alamo poses were hit and miss and I never picked up their Eastern Indian set. But I do remember the excitement to learn someone else was producing new figures to go with and match the old Marx figures in my collection and they were at a pretty reasonable price. But, as I said, there was progress with each set and I’m grateful for their contributions – I have literally hundreds (if not a thousand) of their Mexicans filling my ranks and they paint up very well and go with my Marx guys; and there are enough decent poses (I was tickled someone did the old Marx poses in 54mm – haven’t we been kicking that around on the net here lately?) to make the set worthwhile IMHO.

I’m glad Jim & Co. stuck it out and hope they’re not through yet.

I echo your sentiments. CTS was about the best thing to happen to the hobby. The first Germans had a few low spots, but they were something new. The Japanese were big and I added them to my Lido Japanese, except the HMG team, which was a solid 54mm. I happily loaded up on WWII Italians to add to my Airfix ones and they finally got an MG to fill out the squads. The armor is great! Good detail, very affordable and big enough to get the feel. I wish CTS would do a late war M-4 and the Italian M-13 to go with their figures. I can dream.

I’m interested that Lone Star did mounted version of Tarzan. I wonder if he was meant to be riding an elephant.

My first reaction on seeing your Vietnam figure was that it was an Australian as that style of hat was worn at the time. I can’t say Americans didn’t also wear such hats but it was typical of the Aussies, unlike the World Wars when the broader brimmed slouch hats were worn, as well as tin helmets.

Lone ☆Starr never actually made a mounted Tarzan.
The story behind this is that the company in Wisbech who had acquired the Lone Star tooling ran test shots of the Tarzan top half of the body that plugged into bending legs.
Checking catalogues it was discovered that Lone Star made a motor boat with a water skier. This is what the figure is. If you check the legs you will find sandles and under the feet pegs to fit in the skis.
I once visited the factory with Mike Ellis of Marksman models and saw dozens of moulds and tooling. Only about a tenth of the moulds have test shots run.
Toyway bought the Lone Star toolingredients and the rest went for scrap.
    Very sad indeed.
