It’s past my bedtime on Sunday evening, but I checked this site one last time, and couldn’t resist hitting the link to Mike’s interview with the founder of Engineer Bassevitch.

It was an outstanding interview! As you read the answers to Mike’s questions, you can’t but help being impressed with the sincerity and enthusiasm for toy soldiers of these Russian makers.

And the interview contains some of the best photography of Engineer Bassevitch figures I’ve seen.

Igor Bassevitch even illuminated some of the mystery surrounding the production of Chintoy figures.

    Igor Basevich

Thanks for the correction. I hate to get the spelling of anyone’s name wrong. I have seen the name spelled so many different ways, but thought if I used the spelling in the header above that must be the correct version.

But when I went back to Mr. Prendergast’s original interview, I see the proper spelling is indeed “Basevich”, which I’m going to try very hard to stick to from now on.

In any event, the interview was great, and the figures produced by Engineer Basevich are great.
