Reality Shows

Laurie and I enjoy watching some of the reality shows  such as Storage Wars and American Pickers. I believe it is because it is similar to what we do, that is go out and find treaures for the collection and resale.  We would not do  bidding on units like they do in  Storage Wars as there is too much risk of getting junk. We like to see the items and make a decision.

Sadly many of these shows are contrive. We have seen  reports of rooms being salted with goodies.  One of the worse is Comic Book Men where they found great stuff at a yard sale.   The best I have found at a yard sale in years was some Shogun Warriors.

One show we really like is American Pickers as it seems the closest to what we do.  Sometimes when we watch Pickers we are surprised they do not buy more of item like the time Mike only bought only three Aurora Monster Models and left others.  I have not seen a negative report on Frank or Mike. I hope someday that Laurie and I can get a picture with Frank and Mike.

I checked Youtube and did not see the episode you mentioned. I can imagine what it looked like. I have seen some amazing collections over the years.

Episode is from the Season 2 finale called “Cowboy country”

  3. I like to think Brian and I have been friends for a number of years and we swap a lot of historical info and military toys. Its quite a streach, as he is a Canuck and I live in the panhandle of Texas, but its a fun relationship and I’m sure if I lived closer I would hang around w/ him a lot.
I have been into collecting military toys for almost sixty years and have loved every minute of it. I’m crippled pretty bad now, but its the sort of hobby that doesn’t slow me down even a little. Thru the years, what started as a flea mkt. search turned into a show search and has now evoled into an internet search.
From the start I loved watching “American pickers” but in months of trying I’ve never been able to make contact w/ Mike, Frank or Danielle.

It will be hard to contact Pickers unless you would have a place for them to pick. The only time you might meet them if they pick in your area and it gets out. Keep hunting
