Gary Dutko’s Wonderful Figure Dioramas

Gary Dutko’s Wonderful Figure Dioramas. I have in the past showcased Gary Dutko’s conversions. We lost contact, which we renewed at the last Gettysburg Toy Soldier Show. Gary sent me photos of two great dioramas.

I have known Gary for years. He did some wonderful conversions with Conte Collectibles and other figures. Sadly, various issues forced Gary to stop doing these conversions. Gary sent me some photos a Roarke’s Drift he had setup in his workshop. About 90% of the figures are conversions.  He based this diorama on the movie Zulu with Michael Caine and Stanley Baker.  This diorama shows three stages of the attack.  First is the attack on the outside wall.

Then the second photo show the attack on the interior wall. I like his background.

Finally, the attack on the redoubt.  Many of the smaller props I made myself including the sandbags in the picture.  Also he did some character and other figures.

The other photos Gary sent me were of an Alamo Wall(Conte Collectibles) when making conversions for himself.

Stad’s Thoughts

Gary Dutko's Wonderful Figure Roman

One of the problems I run into buying items is what will I keep? It is too easy to keep items and it takes discipline. Like the Timpo Solid Mounted Roman. I never had one complete with a spear. I could have added it to my collection. Instead, I put it up for sale.

Another example are these four Sacren warriors. From what I understand they were made in the Ukranie and are copies of Russian figures. The figures are made of a rubber material.

Otherwise, I am fine. I have a couple more shows for the year. Two are toy shows and one is an indoor garage sale. It will be what turns up.
