Dumbest thing I saw today

Today (December 9) I took my foreign EBay packages to a regular post office. I have to use a regular post office over a contracted post office as they have to enter the address for Homeland Security. Driving to Post Office I had to stop for a light. I noticed that a car in the left lane wanted to make an U-turn just one problem you are not allowed to make a turn at that intersection. The driver should have seen the sign that said no turns. What’s more the driver had just past a police car that was sitting up on the median of the road. The police car beeped twice to tell the driver to go straight, instead the driver made the U-turn, the police car responded going after the car. I am sure the party got a ticket.

I use EBAY’s service where I just ship to their trans-shipping location and they take care of the rest including all the customs forms etc. The buyer pays a larger shipping fee but all I see is my own shipping charges. Some overseas buyers do not like this because they have to paty VAT etc but it is simple for me. I just print the postage online through Ebay and Paypal. I even get a discount on the postage. Unless someone was buying something very large, it is not worth it to me to ship overseas on my own. Way too much paperwork and running to the Post Office.

I am happy to take my packages to the Post Office. I have been doing it for over 35 years. The paperwork with the small form for foreign packages takes only 5 minutes to fill out. If I have to use the larger form for foreign packages that takes 10 to 15 minutes to fill out. I am not thrilled with EBay’s Global Shipping as they charge a higher fee to the customer. Also most of my foreign packages are small.
This is an on going debate some people love Global Shipping others hate it. I have post a link from Ecommercebytes with comments on the issue.

I drive to downtown Chicago everyday for work, cab drivers by far have to be the worst drivers in the entire world, they don’t let a little thing like three lanes of traffic prevent them from turning wherever they want to turn. Damn the torpedo’s full speed ahead.
