Lone Star African Natives

Lone Star African Natives Poses

  1. African native attacking with axe
  2. African native with club and shield
  3. African native crouching with knife
  4. African native with spear  and shield the shield covers body
  5. African native beating on drum
  6. African native  with spear and shield right foot up
  7. African native witch doctor with flaming torch
  8. African native throwing spear

We were told that the Lone Star African Natives  were called  Zulus which is really a misnomer.  The African natives were copied in Hong Kong. You can the difference by looking on the underside of the base.  The name  Lone Star can be easily seen on the bottom.

As you can see I have to do another check of the collection as I am missing three poses.  I know that I do not have the African native with spear and shield  right foot up. I might have the other two as much of the collection is mixed up and I do not get time to resort.

Lone Star Tarzan Update

We got some updated information from our very good friend Peter Evans. First Lone star never made a Jane figure. Second the figure I mention as  mounted Tarzan figure is actually a figure for water ski and boat set.  They used the Tarzan’s head and upper torso on different legs.  The figure’s feet have pegs to fit on the water skis.  The figure turned up when a company called  Wisbeach did test of the molds they had.  They want to see what they had which is a common occurrence of molds. companies do not know what the mold is.

I have put the mounted figure next to an original Lone Star Tarzan figure. You can see the original figure has more detail and a more realistic flesh color.  Here is the Hong Kong figure again.

I interesting what they did with Tarzan mounted pose . So that let to PH brand only Tarzan known real elephant rider pose I guess.
I got the LS “Zulus” that I will prefer call Africans as to me are not ZULUS ,I will think if LS did Tarzan they were more proper for that set. I’m not aware of British colonial x Zulu war being done by LS !?-but I do not know all about LS of course.

I got the Africans original and first copies by HK that unless you look bellow you do not noticed much as were almost paint identical and size same, later other post cloned copies come in about 50/45 mm and like mold damage if look close, these come in blister and bags and are more common around here in US .
I like the LS as match with 52/54 mm rare Fontanini African style, some weapons and poses. I only got 6 of those and not sure if more were done…

Lone Star nor any of the early British companies did Colonial troops for some reason. It was not until Marlbough did their poses did we see Colonial troops.
