  1. John Wallace says:

The long anticipated Japanese look great! Do I see another couple of poses there and therefore a second Japanese set? All power to you and your dad Austin: well done lads!

  2. Don Perkins says:

Another outstanding interview from Mike Predergast with an exceptional toy soldier maker.

The information presented was interesting all the way through, including Austin’s statement about Conte’s WWII figures being such a big, formative influence on his and his father’s own WWII figures.

The photos of both new and old Austin Miniature figures were great.

The explanation as to why there has been a delay between the first set of U.S. Marines and the Japanese set scheduled for this year was completely understandable.

But when you consider the excellent set of cowboy figures, followed by all the Western Town buildings, and then the first set of U.S. Marines with the two sea wall landscape pieces, it’s really quite a bit for a father and son who created the firm as a part time hobby business. I think everybody appreciates their efforts. And whoever they use as the sculptor for their figures is as good as they come.

  3. Brian Johnson says:

Ilike what he said about some “Present Day” sets, fingers crossed eh.

  4. Thank you Paul for sharing the Interview. I hope everything works out for them. If it does, it looks like this company will be around for a long time. I was wonderfully surprised that a young person like Austin would be taking a active role in the business. I hope that we get some more younger people from the USA to take part in creating new products. Take Care for now, Mike.

Several days ago I tried to call 419-616-3697 – could not go through as dialed. I sent an email to dan@austinminiatures.com – no response. If these are these old, does anyone have anything more current?

  6. Hello Carl, My new phone number is 419 602 7564. Sorry for the confusion. Dan, Austin Miniatures

  7. Carl Cwiklinski says:

I just had a nice conversation with Dan at Austin Miniatures. His number is listed above in his reply to my post.

But while we’re at it, TSSD is turning over their previous email address and phone number to the new owners. I expect that their website will soon be transitioned as well.

I don’t know how to initiate a new thread on here, otherwise I would provide that information.
