Odds Ends Toy Soldier News

Austin Miniatures is reporting on their Facebook page that they will have two more figure sets plus possible some more cowboys. The two sets are WWII themed. While Austin has not stated exactly what the sets speculation is running to WWII Japanese and Marines. we will have to wait and see.

According to Don Perkins TSSD has announced that they will be closing their web site soon. This closes an end to a major toy company that not only sold other people’s products. They made their own figures. While MicShaun’s Closet bought the figures they were selling their remaining inventory. They will be missed.

Don also reported that it is less than 45 days to the Midwest Toy Soldier Show. The show has 37 dealers including Ed Borris and his Alamo conversions. You can get the details here.

Dave Hart’s show in March will be only one day only March 17 instead of two. Usually, he has a toy show on one day and a flea market the next. This year he was only able to get one day. This show is at the Timonium Fairgrounds in Timonium Maryland. the hours for the show are 10 to 4 which is free. Early admission between 8 and 10 is $10.00

Odds Ends Toy Soldier Marx Munchies

Odds Ends Toy Soldier

I had this little guy in my inventory for years. I had no idea where I got him. The only thing I knew he was from Marx. so posted a question to one of the Facebook groups on Marx and got a quick answer back. He is a Munchie that was part of one the their HO sets Marx did. According to Glen Ridenour, The set was released in 1967 to 1968 and was Montgomery Wards exclusive. Christopher Wallentime gave the name Munchieville Plantation miniature playset. Christopher has it as one hardest miniature playsets to find.

I will be putting this figure on Ebay for sale as he does not fit into my collection.

I should also have a few sets of my Beast Productions Alamo Mexicans available, produced by Larry Patterson from the original Barzso sculpts that were never produced.

It also appears I will be attending the Gettysburg show this year, no Texas show so PA here I come if I live that long.

      • Don Perkins says:

It’s difficult to think of two better locations for a toy soldier show than San Antonio, Texas or Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Unfortunately, although I’ve visited both places, it was never at a time when a toy soldier show was being held.

These Austin japanese prototype resin set w metal weapons been in ebay for two weeks approx already .The sculpting looks great so are the anatomical action poses ,but so far are just protype .
Yet i see some poses are very close to some recent done .The machine gun is almost same as TSSD if not same exact pose as far I see .
Interesting the soldiers are wearing the Kessenfuku tunic with Fuyu-jyu-ha undershirt uniforms .First time i noticed it in plastic soldier this scale .
