  1. Don Perkins says:

It’s a well-sculpted figure, in a good pose. It would be an outstanding figure in it’s own right, but it’s even better as a remembrance of Ron Barzso, with his great contributions to the world of toy soldiers.

    Good choice, Ed & Mike.

  2. Detlef Heerbrand says:

    looks great ..

    cheers Detlef ..

  3. Darren Hatley says:

    Great looking figure.

  4. Wayne W says:

That’s one I’d definitely love to have in my collection – a great tribute to a man who’s done a lot for this hobby.

  5. ed borris says:

I am currently sold out of the figure he went like hot cakes, I will be ordering some more soon, once I recover from the show.

As a teaser it was one of the best shows I’ve had in a long time. I still have commissions coming to me, so the final totals aren’t in.

I saw Ron just before I left and he told me he was honored that someone thought enough of his contributions to the hobby to have someone have a figure made of him. He liked the figure a lot an was extremely appreciative.

  6. Don Perkins says:

I’m glad to hear that Ron Barzso was touched that the hobby in general — as well as Ed & Mike in particular — saw fit to honor his contributions upon his retirement.

Making a historical figure with his likeness is such an appropriate way of recognizing him.

It takes a substantial monetary investment these days to produce a toy soldier, and it’s got to be somewhat dispiriting to anyone who takes such a risk to then be subjected to the nitpicking negativity which so often seems to greet their efforts.

We may never again see a hobbyist like Ron Barzso in terms of enthusiasm & longevity in coming out with his sheer volume of historical playsets year after year. I think a positive statement like this Ron Barzso/Robin Hood figure sends a strong message for CTS, TSSD, LOD, Austin Miniatures, Armies In Plastic, & Expeditionary Force, that many in the hobby really do appreciate their efforts.

  7. ed borris says:

I ordered 10 more of Little Ronnie today and four are already spoken four, I should have them in a couple of weeks. If the mold is still good after these 10 I will order at least 5 more.

  8. Mike Stratas says:

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

The RH figures sets are well available from many dealers as well included LOD ebay and website store in bags .
I don’t think the Barzso limited done large playset will ever restock x long .

      • ed borris says:

I think he’s asking about the special Ron Robin Hood I had made. The answer is I ordered 10 more yesterday.

        • ERWIN F SELL says:

          cool,thank u x clear it Ed.
I thought was about the sets.
Ed i have following question regarding this pose then.

This RH figures are made of Resin like old resin barzso figures or other resin?
Did he uses same manufacture way to make it or other?
          .
The pose looks very alike the Marx 60mm or charter by marx .It was intentional done x that reason ?
It is in match 54 mm scale or with later 60 mm Barzso set scale that match the Marx 60 mm scale!?
          best

          • admin says:

The figure is 60mm to match with Ron’s figures he did for his playset. The resin of the special figure is different from Barzso Collectibles resin figure. Ron had had his figures and accessories done at Fortress Miniatures. Ed had his figures done at Plastic Underground.

          • ed borris says:

No, this is a very sturdy plastic resin and the sword is reinforced with metal.

I had the figure made by Plastic Underground, it is supposed to match very closely with the Barzso character figures from his Robin Hood set. So, it’s in the 60mm category.

The figure was commissioned by be me and my partner Mike as sort of a thank you for all Ron has done for the hobby now that he is stepping away from the play set phase of the business. A small token of our appreciation.

  9. Mike Kutnick says:

After we gave him the figures Ron gave a short speech thanking every one in the business for supporting him these past years. We also gave him a sheet cake with a picture of his figure on him. It was cut into pieces for the collectors and gone in about fifteen minutes!

  10. ERWIN F SELL says:

The only Barzso playset i was always interested were Conquistadors and aztecs with temple building and the super huge with all building medieval castle plus two.
first i did bough and still have it in one of my Chicago show trips on its first appearance as playset from Ron hands himself.
Second i never able got when on sale x many reason and after become a golden overpriced insane playset .
i’m a collectors and value many vintage but not like spend so much thousand in something new off toys at all.
Not matter how pretty or well done and with money in hand i consider those luxury with out logic in my personal view.
    my thoughts.
    best

  11. Fritz Juengling says:

I would very much like to get one, too. How much and how do I order one? Great work!
