P1140822Dollar Store Western buildings are an inexpensive solution to those look to add to their  western scenes. Our very good friend Erwin Sell found these buildings in a dollar store. There are three different types: Headquarters, sheriffs office and saloon, The buildings come with Playmobil type figures and a cannon.

Dollar Store Western BuildingsErwin has sent some photos showing the dollar store western buildings with two story  Comansi western buildings from Spain. As this and other  photos the buildings will work well with 60mm figures.

I like these buildings as they are a very inexpensive way to add to your western town.  I can see using them with the Marx tin litho Western town Street pieces. The problem on the Marx Tin litho street sections can go through for  hundred dollars or more.  In a recent Ebay auction one party had up the two story Roy Roger street section and a Welles Fargo one story street section. The bid when I looked at it was $280.00.

Another solution is done by a dealer on Ebay known as anh60. Over the years he has done a wide variety of buildings for your western scene.  The buildings are made of wood thin like Masonite.   The Ebay dealer anh60 has done a wide range of buildings from an one story saloon to a two story building with a second floor office for Doc Adams  of the television show Gunsmoke.  The price of these buildings have sold as low as $30.00 for a one story saloon.  The highest price we saw was $122.50 Overland Express building.

The Comansi western buildings were done in plastic and have one story and two story buildings in the series. They were imported in the 80’s. We run into them from time to time.

What buildings do you use in your western town.

  2. Hello, Dan from Austin Miniatures here, I have some of my western buildings on sale right now on ebay. They are made from high density foam, hand painted by me, and have lots of killer detail. The smaller ones starting at $50 and the larger ones starting at $75 The church is $100 and the biggest and my favorite the livery is $125. And on a different note I have finally sent my Japanese figures to China for production! Also as of right now I have my sculptor working on my next set of figures, Vietnam Marines .Thank you to everyone who has supported me in my last two projects and I hope you will continue to do so in the future. Your buildings are nice and great additions. Thanks for the update on your figure projects. I know people having been waiting for your WWII Japanese and I am sure people will be excited to see your Vietnam Marines.

Paul, i have a number of the buildings from Allan. great quality and decoration. no cardboard at all; he uses a thin wood like masonite. you can remove the roofs and add interior details. the drawback is the ones i have do not have open backs like the marx buildings, so you can’t see all the interior easily. you can not beat his prices if the bids stay low.
