Our very good friend Erwin Sell spotted the following listing on EBay.  It may be a new set from Pvblivs. I am not sure. They have done a number of sets.

Indian is one if first they did, that is old together with pirates right after first two roman and one Teutonic sets in 4 poses each.

  2. Bill Nevins says:

    Ridiculous prices for new plastic.

  3. Jack Gibbons says:

I agree. Yet the most interesting new plastic is coming from Russia. If there could only be a way to reduce the prices…

  4. I think Pvblivs has the best sculpture in the toy soldier business!
GUYS, Pvblivs is strictly a independent producer with a very limited run for the die hard collector who really wants a finely produced set.
Quit comparing their prices to domestic manufacturers.
If you really want it, support it!
Besides what are you going to do with that money anyway?
    Beer?!
    $40 keeps it alive!

In some points agree with you Aldo.
We have to understand that this hobby is not any where fast moving neither a large buyer world. Both Russian companies making figures are short run=limited production not using standard long used long production mold. They cast their figures base in metal similar poses and mold last for few hundred runs/sets and after mold is done -no more. That is the reason is particular high. In short run if you want fast recovery you have to increase price more than any unless you like to waste it and seat x years to see how they get dusty and sale.
No way make short run with out increasing their price.
In my personal opinion I should say they are one of best but not best, some figures come well detailed, others are less ,dynamism play well in most and size looks good any ways not all sets match each other. The quality had increase a lot in the last sets.
What make it a bit annoying is probably the shipping too ,but if work a lot of few sets with seller you will get a brake in economic shipping.
Replicant figures are much less detailed figures and sets are high mark too…

For those looking low price, these are not, these are for those looking specific rarity and I can tell as far previews sets, they had sold out good and fast with no way to know if ever produce again,so I give these set in few years possibility of hard to get collectibles.

  6. Bill Nevins says:

I don’t buy Replicants either because they are expensive and are really poor quality sculpts. I don’t care a hoot about how limited run they produce. Their figures are not worth the price and neither are these.

Buy them if you like them. This is stricly my own opinion.

Replicants figures are not any more expensive in their home country than makers who are based is the United States. In the UK Replicant figures sell between one and one and half pounds each. Converting to dollars that is between $1.50 and $2.32 per figures. If look at comparison TSSD is selling eight Germans for $16.00 or $2.00 each. CTS Chinese Communists sell 16 figures for $25.00 or $1.56 each.
The price increase on the Replicants happens when they are shipped here to the states. The mark up from Replicants is only 30% off the retail price. You have then shipping and possible duties cost, so for a dealer to make a profit they would have to retail them in the U.S. for $3.00 to $4.00 a figure. (Jamie Delson Mr. Airfix is at three times the price.)
Over in the UK TSSD Germans sell for 14 pounds or $2.62 a figure
On the figures themselves Cole’s biggest weakness is faces. He has done some figures I have not care for and he has done some figures I really like. I would disagree on the blank statement that they are poor quality sculpts. I also like how he has done poses that enhance a scene such as his Civil War correspondent.

  7. Mark T. says:

I’d like to get some Pvblivs figures if they weren’t so expensive. I think they are even more costly than Basevich. The Pvblivs pirates and Vikings and the medieval figures are very nice, but those Indians are terrible. No research in the costumes whatsoever, cartoonish facial features and flat poses. I might buy them if they were $5 a set, but $30? There are a lot better figures available much cheaper.

If Pvblivs were even as low as $20 for a set of 6 I would likely buy some of the Vikings, medievals and pirates. I love that Viking berserker in the most recent set with the twin axes and wolfskin headgear.

What kind of plastic are they made from?

    • erwin says:

Mark T .Most are hard, but nor stiff plastic,(more harder than BASEVISCH), any way they had change the plastic and art quality recently, the Indians with first medieval sets were done in more 2 d style poses. Later are much better quality.
The old sets you may one day if lucky find in a very low(job lot) deal price. That is how I bought most if my E Basevich sets(all revolution and two WW2) and ended paying much less that $20.00 per each a year or so ego. But that is lucky shot. Those few in western country like UK,Germany,France and even here who had bought to resale had to sale at same or higher price because no gain and big purchase wholesale quantity discount.
When looking in toy soldiers like I do on eBay keep always international search on, some times they(sellers from other country) list under plastic figurines, others as just under (“game”) .Is just a matter of patience. But in both company the set are getting hard, specially first sets. One or two of revolution sets from B are discontinued already.
These sets are collectible high value set for those who want to spend the money in something not common ,not standard products available, same as other rare brand like I mention before. I value them for rarity and unique plus quality as many as me.
Many European buyers generally are more rich in money and spend more per set.
They sale there much better than here (same on elastolin replicant and others)
They have the money and like to spend in what they value, like here most spend in US vintage brand and some times paid ridiculous prices too . Also you have to think they are not (made in china) which is a “warning” mentality for many of us in price too. They are done in Russia. Look what happen when some here try to do figures in US -sample (stangle JR) that so far had not come, prices would had been much that any body because making with limited production runs and in US.
Hope and wish you best in find , who knows in a show some one from abroad come and give you a deal in few sets. At Chicago show will be one vendor from UK that carry the EB sets but not these I think.
His prices are pretty much same if he still has what he got he may be able to brake a deal possible if buy a lot .

      • Hey Erwin, any news about ether ENGENEER BASEVISCH or PEVLIES coming out with any new WWII?
        You must know something?!

        • erwin says:

Aldo I would know I will let guys knows first; in fact I discover this last new set by luck on eBay before any body even before other Russian seller post it, apparently (Maxin)the seller Russian selling took few first release from the local factory and listed.I contact few friends in Russian and they did not even knew till they contact the owner.
Because PLVBIS always do two sets or most time of same wars ,it will be probably another Turks/Saracen crusades set soon.
As I mention before they do sets base in metal platform same model single figures, some very interesting WW2 German ,Japanese and Russian single poses done in metal by Russian artist from where PLVIS has taken the same sets could be seen on eBay often sold under metal cast Russian figures; may be they will do German next time.!?
No clue on Engineer B but will keep you guys posted as soon I know and with Stad permit of course.
