Odds Ends Ancient Roman Sling Thrower

Odds Ends Ancient Roman
I am working my way through the collection I recently purchased. the previous owner did conversions. Some of them are nice others not. This is one of the better conversion of a Roman soldier with a sling. The sling was an important weapon in ancient times. It was used by the Romans who even made lead projectiles. The previous owner took the Marx Roman yelling added a metal shield. He then made a sling from scratch or used a Marx civil war canteen and reworked.
The only figure I can remember being with a sling was a Stlarlux 60mm Roman.

Rahway passed along the latest update on Jeff Imel’s women soldier project. The Kickstarter project is shipping and moving along. Also, you can see the follow up on what started this project.

George Albany Request

George Albany has asked for help on a project. Here is his request. A friend has asked me if I could make a vignette of the 1914 soccer truce.  Any suggestions for figures?  I’d need a couple British and a couple Germans in undress uniforms. Any suggestions?

Odds Ends Ancient Roman Early Christmas Present

Biplant Sacrens
I have some traditions for Christmas. One is to get a fruit cake for Christmas. Another tradition is to get some toy soldiers. This tradition goes back to one Christmas where all I got was clothes. I was so upset that I took my Christmas money and got myself. some soldiers.
Since then I have bought a set of soldiers each year. This year I bought a set of the Biplant Saracens. I had like their figures and also unlike most figures from Russia they are very inexpensive. The set has five figures and they are nicely detailed. I will do more on this set in the future.

For the 1914 truce what about the Americana or BMC ACW prisoners and maybe Armies in Plastic British Zulu or Sudan shirt sleeved artillery crew.

  2. Michael Purchase says:

Elastolin made 2 poses of slingers for their 40mm & 70mm ranges.
