February Part Two Flea Market Finds

February Part Two Flea Market Finds, we take a look at some more of the items I recently found.

February Part Two Flea Market Finds Soldiers

February Part Two Flea soldier
In the junk box, I mentioned that bought at the indoor flea market, I found some soldiers. The figure on the left is a copy of a Matchbox WWII German Afrika Corp. He has been downsized to 54mm. The middle figure is one of the Pixar toy Story toy soldiers that was sold in a bucket. Finally, the figure on the right is from New Ray.
Ackerman soldiers
Most junk boxes come up with Ackerman soldiers. I pull them to go into the collection (Yes, I have a collection, not a few bits as someone thinks.) I will put them up in the collection until I get a chance to separate my figures and see if I have others.
soldiers
There was a group of figures in the box which are a mix of soldiers and Swat figures. these figures are done by New Ray which sold them with eir vehicles.
Boley soldiers
These figures are New Ray and went with the cannon they sold.

Other Figures

Safari astronauts
I am placing these astronauts under the Safari until I get corrected.
Dinosaurs
The dinosaur and bug creature go into Laurie’s collection. She ends up with any dinosaurs I find.
HK Indians
I love how Hong Kong companies copied other companies. Case in point these figures are based on Timpo foot Indians. The company made them solid figures.
animals
One more group of animals, the Tyrannosaurus will go into Lau8rie’s collection. I will keep the Kangaroo with a joey. The gorilla wearing clothing is odd and I wondering if part of a circus set.

Figure Time

Fontanni
Since I have a little space here is an item from my collection. I believe it from Fontanini. I am not sure if he is a pirate. do you know?

Small dinosaur and monsters are very interested as they inspired the famous Dungeon Dragon designer-artist Ernest Gary Gygax to use all then exact in hist stories.First time i read a game designer is inspired by simple odd toys created in China =HK . See read this here please.

    Hello folks,

any chance of trading that gorilla perhaps? as you probably all know I collect plastic monkeys and apes, and I have never seen that figure and I have over 1500 individual gorilla figures (www.facebook.com/586simians – you can see the collection here). The gorilla figure would be a very unique addition to my collection and I have thousands of animal figures to trade.

let me know, at your leisure

    warmest regards

    Hello Paul,
    great finds.
The copies of Timpo swoppets were made by the Hongkong based maker “Tak Shing”. As far as we know they only made 7th cav. and Indians, other info welcome.
Yes the golden warrior was made by Fontanini in their nore souvenier figure than toy soldier range. To me he looks like a Turkish warrior. In the same series they made vikings, knights and Napoleonics.

Thanks, Andreas I normally only see items outside of their packaging. I was sure the figure was Fontanini thank you for confirming it.

    Hi there ..
the Timpo Indians copies should have been from Tak Shing in the 90s .. they had also copied Timpo Union soldiers as solid ..

The Saracen / Turk is by Fontanini.
There are three other poses. They came either in an antique gold paint or fully painted in matt colours

The WWII German soldier is one of the copies still sold in buckets today. The early castings were crisp like that, devoid of flash and cast in that dark brown-grey. They were decent copies in something like 15 poses (some Matchbox DAK, some regular infantry and a few Airfix regular German infantry poses). Now when you see them, the color is muted purple or blue and there’s often a fair bit of flash. The ones with the M-43 (or similar) hat on was added to my Airfix Gebirgsjaeger to give them some fighting poses. A close enough look that makes them a fit, to me. Others make good conversion parts. I changed some of the heads out on the BMC German figures and it made them look quite decent, especially the MG crew.
