Plastic Figure Showcase Mysteries Questions

Plastic Figure Showcase Mysteries Molds
Jeff Imel sent me a photo of some molds that he acquired. On the left are two wagons. The covered wagon has a Payton driver, but different horses and hitches. The other wagon is quite interesting. On the little aliens, Jeff feels they are R&L Astro-Nits. R&L was a company from Australia did cereal premiums. the molds were later to Mexico. The machine gun I said to Jeff reminds me of a toy I sold in the last few years. It was on a blister card and shot bbs. The trees and signs are interesting. The signs and trees (or shrubs) are about 2 inches tall. The other side of the sign mold has the names of places in the Southwest (with some interesting spelling) and South America. Jeff has learned that at least some of these molds may have been manufactured by “Bienvenido a Uruguay” (Toys of Uruguay) at one time.

MPC Ore Cars?

MPC Ore Cars
I was at a flea market and spotted a bag of vehicles. It had two rail or ore cars. I believe that they are by MPC and for some reason, I remember in a Lone Ranger playset they did. what do you think?

Odds and Ends

MPC ring hand figure
I wonder how many of you who the MPC ring hand figures used toothpicks for weapons when you could not find any weapons. I did.
Cane and Jim figures
Here are two figures I got recently from Markus Lecksheid that he got the recent Plastic Warrior show. The one on the left is from Cane of Italy. It is a Bersageli flag bearer. I really like the pose. The Indian is from Jim. He is carrying a dead animal.

Aren’t the rail cars from the MPC ” Have Gun Will Travel ” playset. Does Jeff have any plans to produce the Figures,Wagons,& Western signs?? I’d purchase them.

    • admin says:

You may be right. I thought it was from an MPC playset. Jeff has no plans at the moment for the signs. It might be a while for them to come to the surface.

      • W Wood says:

I’m not saying MPC didn’t use the rail cars on other sets but I received them in my “Have Gun Will Travel ” set, too. MPC (and Marx and others) did know how to get the most out of their molds.

Your pic of the ring hand guy brought back memories. I used toothpicks, too. Did anyone else use sword shaped cocktail picks with their ring hand guys?

You can feed round bullets in large amount as soft BB gun .
Mine is dark OD color hard plastic.
It has a patent number and brand engraved if not mistake.
I think by Payton but I could be wrong as nor remember well and storage x many years.
I will have to dig it out.
I use as boy to target my figures or space gun.as is a complete toy design not related to any real gun at all.

  3. Len Hardt says:

The MPC ore car set that I had came with a beautiful steam engine, with track. There was also a bag of plastic “gold dust” that ended up in the carpet sweeper by the end of the week.

  4. Mark McNamara says:

The nice Cane Bersaglieri might lend itself to the War between the States also

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

      I agree.Mark
It can be use easy with minor painting/and or conversion in many conflit as well most other 5 poses of set .

Why sign of mold have spelled (ARIZZONA?)with two ZZ and rest is nothing to be with spanish words ,neither name of such factory ever existed.

If the spelling was done by spanish people do not need to change spelling as word and /or name Arizona is in spanish written correct same way as known;while S-LOUIS does spell San Luis as is correct translated from original French spelling .
But then TEXAS is spell wrong if was in spanish .No even in portuguese ,italian or vazquez would spell/write as in the mold sign(TEXSAS).

TEXAS,ARIZONA,CALIFORNIA,LOS ANGELES,SAN FRANCISCO,NEVADA ,OREGON ,COLORADO are all spanish words of old settlement founded by spaniards many centuries ago and words were created by Spaniards in some base in old native words .
The spelling in mold signs was done incorrect in purpose by actually NARDI-MORELIA to avoid copyrights of other forts and houses sold with correct names in signs western toys buildings by other makers .

The correct answer/history of that mold to the sign is it is belong to old former mold from Morelia – Nardi
Morelia was an old metal -lead toy figures maker from Uruguay that did production business in 1965 with Nardi from Italy till 1979
Nardi send molds to then(MORELIA) and co-founded a factory there to produce their toy figures/fort and houses but NARDI had a short history producing because of large factory fire in Italy .
In 1979/80.The molds they have from Nardi after Nardi close in italy after large fire were sold to
Almost all Nardi-morelia figures produced with molds in Uruguay by Morelia carry a engraved that read – (Industria Uruguay) Along NARDI words
It could be the reason it was misinterpreted as being made by factory named “”Toys of Uruguay”””
The words “Bienvenidos a Uruguay” means literally -Welcome to Uruguay
Molds Unlimited was re integrated and absorbed by another company name Molds Unlimited Inc that sold off all toys molds in late 80s and dedicate to household mainly products today.
