The Season Begins

My season for 2013 started on Saturday January 5th. I decided to go to a local indoor garage sale that I had done last year.  This show is a hit and miss. For soldiers there were only two tables.. The first one had large size Proccessed Plastic Army figures and tanks. I decided to pass on these figures. The second table I had first found several ethnic dolls at a reasonable price. As I continued to look over the table, I found several 54mm Star War figures, a Forces of Valor army figure and wizard. The last one I got for my play collection, this is a collection of figures I want to use for stories.  After doing the show, I walked over to a booth that sells fast food pieces. I can find from time to time figures which I did this time. I found a Papo female pirate, Bullyland Civil War Union charging, pirate pointing and vampire. The figures are only two for $5.00.  After doing the show I took Laurie out to Indian Restaurant for their buffet.  It is continuation of a family to share the day.

Sunday Laurie and I went to the Wayne New Jersey Toy Show . This show is once a month and I wanted  go into a different  area to see what we could find. The drive was  fine, but for some reason Mapquest takes you off Route 80 drives you  around and if I had not caught one of the show’s signs we would have been lost. The show is held at a firehouse. There is one big room which most of the dealers had action figures. Besides the action figures there was  a plethora of other items.  We found a bunch of  character toys including a Rookies Television rack toy which we bought.  I passed on some mint Zorro children’s gloves. We met Steve Savino of Toy Hunter. I introduced Steve to Laurie and we talked on some points about the show.  I gave Steve  my formal written challenge to Jordan Hembrough on the toy duel. After that I did my c0mic impression of Jordan at a toy hunt for Steve.  Steve will be in 9 of the 13 shows. They are slated to do a Comicon in Boston.

The only other dealer we knew at the show was Will a young dealer we have met recently.  One fun situation was a dealer  had his young son watching the stand. The young man knew prices on the Muscle men  and was promoting them.  After about an hour we headed out and stopped at Clinton Diner. Today we had their hamburgers. The hamburgers are big for the price $6.65. For two dollars extra you can add french fries, cole slaw and half a pickle. Laurie had their Mexican burger and I had the Bunch burger which had bacon and fried egg on it. From there we headed home to get ready for the new week.

For those of you in the NYC area who lost pets in the storm, there’s a site that shows the abundance of dogs and cats that hurricane Sandy has brought in.
If you want to check it out, you’d better hurry; The NYCacc org
